Accuracy International Picture Thread

Took her to the range today (CRC). Zeroed at 100, got my drop at 200. And then went over to the high-power range to get dope out to 1000. First round hit on an MOA target at 600, got a few more rounds off, all hits, then the safety and trigger locked up. After stripping the bolt and cleaning and lubing it, it still didn't work. So I ran it over to Adam at MH, and he unfucked it in about 10 min. Apparently there was some crud in the trigger.

There was crud in the trigger of a brand-new rifle?!? Are you sure the rifle wasn't a trade-in or used previously? I've shot my AT in the worst conditions, still haven't cleaned it, and it works every time.

Third year with my AT, but 2019 will be a little different...

Finally got her out in the wild. I absolutely love the action and factory trigger. I can definitely see why there is a cult like following for AI’s. The action is what amazes me the most. Slick like butter.

Mirage was pretty miserable and being MLK day the range was slammed so I was limited to only confirming dope out to 700 yards.

When I get back from work I’ll checkout the SamB spigot mount and RRS BAI-AT I have at the house. I installed the SamB thumb rest last night and really like it. I’ll order some thumbholes for her and I think she should be good to go.

i was debating to get a full custom or AXMC a year ago. i went with AXMC 338LM & 308win bbl from MH and i sure did make a right decision. group always below 1/2 moa.

I have been trying to level my reticle on my AX. what surface on the AX are you guys using to place a level on the rifle before leveling the scope?

Not sure if it is nice and flat, I used the back of the bolt (where the safety is). But I also have Spuhr with leveler (although not sure if it's perfectly flat).

Everything lined up real well for me.

Forgot to add, I also used the flat area behind the bolt, above the grip.

I also have the Spuhr mount with built in bubble. I used the provided leveler tool while mounting the scope. I then used a plump to double check my reticle against the bubble. All checked out dead nuts.

I can't swing the BDL right now. I have tried using the "flats" under the bolt head and they are just "a little off" from the pick rail.

Before I started using Sphur for mounts, I would just set the scope lightly into the rings and use a set of feeler gauges between the flat on the scope and the base. Always had pretty good results from doing that.

Not sure what levels you have. But I use the wheeler kit.

Also, do you level your optics to the rifle, or to gravity after you have the rifle set up for you personally. Both are valid ways.

If you level the optic to the rifle, put a level on the pic rail and the wheeler barrel level on. Match them up, tighten the barrel level, and that’s your level now.

Use the barrel level to level the rifle, then use a plumb line to level the crosshairs.

If you get your rifle set up for you and then level the optic to gravity:

Gat behind the rifle without an optic and get the rifle shouldered as comfortable as you can. Do it several times to make sure it’s right. Have a buddy put the barrel level on and clamp it down with bubble between lines.

Then repeat the above process. Put a scope mounted level on the optic and done.

I like to get the rifle level then make the reticle plumb and level. This should get the bullet to fall straight down through the centerline of the bore. I confirm this using a tall target and plumb line.

Also, the flats under the bolt head worked great..i checked today.

I'm with Edsel, I'm a sucker for the AW style rifle, and would love a long action AT. I'm very old school when it comes to AI, unless it's something super useful like the quick lock barrel changes.

I'd like one of these with a quick - change barrel and an AXMC bolt / chamber :(

All they'd really need to do is change the chassis somewhat and whip up some new (retro) skins...

Huh, are all AT bolts fluted like that now? I don't think my AT is fluted, lefty AT bought it late 2016.

If you’re willing to wait a little longer I’ll finally be able to announce my partnership to sell my bipod mounts that replace the factory block and eliminate the wiggly spigot adapter altogether.

Thank you! I've been looking for one of your mounts for years!

The spigot and the comp trigger really address the only two areas I wanted to change about the AT.

These rifles are pure porn, can’t wait to order mine :) Steiner tx5i 5-25 is on order, eratac adjustable mount also. At this moment I hope that LRA is getting paperwork ready to get their send-it devices available for export to the EU.

Then the big waiting starts, I can’t order an AXMC before sept. 2019 due to our legislation about number of firearms you may ( or may not ) possess....

Until then, I will keep on lurking and drooling on every single rifle in this thread :)

Keep on posting and keep my dream alive!

Got my new Proof prefit 6.5x47L barrel out today. I just loaded up some rounds using an old mild load with 130 VLDs I used to use a lot with my old Gradous barrel. Despite being pretty miserable outside in the 20 degrees and hurricane force arctic wind blasting directly in my face relentlessly, I put down a .5” followed by a .3” group for the first two 5 shot groups. Then the weather beat me down and I shot a .9” followed by a .7”, but after a warm up break finished with another .5”. Really happy with the performance using the random fire forming load, especially considering both the bullets and the powder I used were pulled from rounds I had loaded but never shot through my old barrel. I forgot how much I loved the 6.5x47L.

what brand/model is your rear support bag? thanks

So, a bit of a story. I bought a thumb hole kit for my rifle. I went to install it, and the shortest screw in the kit was about 1/4” too long. So long that it actually stuck out passed the side stock. I emailed Tim at AI about the issue, just so they knew about it. I had already trimmed the screw to length and touched the edge up with black sharpie. A week later (today) I get a package in the mail. Not only did he send me a screw that was the right length, but they threw in an AI button and two of those target/coaster thingies. Score! Thanks guys, for being such an amazing company!

My first AI (new to me) is coming together. I'm still messing with it here and there, but it should be wrapped up soon. I have my DMR LLC Shorty 16.5" 6.5 Creedmoor barrel installed. I'm planning on doing a 25" 6 Creedmoor barrel and possibly a 16.5" 1-9" twist .308 Win. barrel (all Bartlein 5R's). I'm going to convert it to the AX butt stock. Thats about all I have planned for it.

I've had about 5 pierced primers out of 200 rounds with my 2018 AT, always with new brass on a stout load in 6x47L w/ CCI 450s. Had one fail to fire after one of them but other than that the rifle has worked fine. Cleaned it this afternoon and had the bolt apart, these bits of metal came out. I'm impressed that the thing was still working like it was with this bouncing around in there, battle rifle indeed! Looks like primer parts that got flattened out, the bolt assembly itself looks perfectly fine.

Thanks DT . I need the NV rail for my thermal. It came from Mile High. Sure they have more
How is the lock up on the badger Spigot?
That’s next on the list !!

So far, it’s locking up well.

The one I got only uses one of the large pins (replaces the stock spigot). It has play, until you screw the flush cups in. They lock it up solid.

It’s also nice that you can mount the rail forwards or backwards. But it is also further out since it replaces spigot and is in front of the chassis.

I need to verify, but it looks like it may block the furthest key slot as well.

I picked this on up second hand, so it might be an older model. Not sure about that either. But it seems to work very well.
