Able to finally post pictures of an AI I own. AI AT 6.5 CM, 24" threaded. Shooting factory Hornandy 140 ELD M. Velocity 2620 fps, SD 24. Hammer at 100 yards. About 2.25 in spread at 545.

Overall first impressions is I like the grip and trigger more than I thought I would. Bolt is MUCH clunkier than I thought it would be. Couple drops of oil helped. Hopefully it smooths out over time. Only 40 rounds in at this point.

Bought from mile high, very good experience.

The AX folder and Atlas spigot have been installed so here's the "new" AIAT. The colors are a close match, but I had to switch to a 1.5" Spuhr as the AX cheek piece (as has been mentioned) is taller than on the AT folder.

@Fixr - I have that little Allen wrench in my stock now. :)

Wonder how it would look with the black stock on the pale brown? Have a PB coming to me soon and debating what color stock, PB or Black.
Anyone out here have that setup?

Installed @samb300 ’s Arca Swiss spigot replacement today, along with a RRS BT-Pro clamp. Total install time was about 2 hours. That’s 10 minutes to remove the factory mount and install Sams, then 1 hour and 50 minutes hunting the 10-32x3/8 screws for the RRS clamp before giving up and going to Fastenal.

I can tell on the bench alone that this is far superior to the factory set up with the B&T spigot. It’s 1” closer to the bore and probably 2.5” closer to the muzzle adjusted out. It’s also far more sturdy than I could crank the spigot mount down to.

Another home run from Sam.

The Coopermaster on the range
Coopermaster at range 1.jpg

The range conditions note also loopy pheasant who wandered along in front of the line, surprisingly unbothered by the noise or the people.

pheasant and wind 1.jpg

Its not often I come off the range carrying this much windage and had used more.

Accuracy International are best known for their military rifles but if you like range work the target rifles they made are well worth considering if you come across one.

We picked up the barrel and went on a 3 day steel-spanking camping trip. We ordered a Bartlien 30" Sendero 1:9 in 300 PRC and for now we're shooting the ELD-M 225s. Right off the bat, they shot well. I used the Hornady 4DOF at 5K' elevation and a wild guess at temp and pressure, guessed at 2950 fps. For a mile it was within 0.3 mils. We got hits right away even though the wind was apparently mimicking Wyoming. The Area 419 Sidewinder plus the mass of the rifle made recoil mellow. Spotting shots was easy. I'm happy as a pig in shit.
What can is that? Looks like sandman endcap but diff body
just a wild guess on the body comment - looks like a sub 16" barrel that has a 'muzzle device' pinned to make it 16" so as not to have to sbr? but said muzzle device allows the can to be threaded underneath?

First nice day in New England for a while so I took the morning off and went shooting.

Some say money can't buy happiness but those people have never shot an AI from an RRS tripod seated. Super freaking stable.

New barrel spun up by @Robert Gradous. M24 contour/26"/4 groove Krieger blank/7.5 twist. Only 35 rounds through it but to say I am pleased is an understatement.

A great morning indeed

Pardon me, that is a fine rig you've got there. Is there any way you could take a picture getting either a left or right side shot of your rifle with the Elite Iron Bi-pod stowed like that? I've been looking to do a set-up somewhat similar to this.

Id really appreciate it.
Regards

I had the opportunity to sneak away for a couple hours before vacation and the 16-3/4” barrel did not disappoint.

I have not had to tweak BCs or the AB custom curves much with the Kestrel 5700 Elite. This barrel and the 168gr’s I had to go from a G1 of 0.434 to 0.480. I thought it was odd, but everything lined up from 200-700yards and I was tagging 10-12” plates all the way.

Over the 30 rounds chrono’ed velocity was 2510fps, SD 10-12fps, ES 30-36.

There was one shot before this to figure out what the offset was after switching from 6.5CM to .308. This is the next 3 shots.

I was kinda rushed today so forgot to snag a pic on the line. This will have to do.

Nice rig! What height rings are you using an also what model scope is that?
