I went through the same considerations back in Jan when they released the SR. Everyone I talked with (at TBAC and otherwise) all said the 338 will provide the best suppression bar none across all cartridges - the only downside is length and weight. If you are fine w/ a small baseball bat hanging off your barrel, it will give the best performance and most versatility.

I just purchased a 338 Ultra for a AI AX SA in 6BR and 6.5CM. The weight is negligible compared to other manufactures cans, the big difference in length. Its only 1.4" longer than the Ultra 9, so not a big difference there.

This is what i like to hear. I was thinking of picking up an 6.5 Ultra 7 in addition to the 338 Ultra, but sounds like it is not needed.

i shoot my AXMC in 6CM with a 338 ultra. It’s stupid quiet. Both at the shooter and spotters. It’s gotta be close to hearing safe, at least for me.

Realistically...yes. But the $20k super operator ASR was never going to be offered or made in LH. The AXSR however, should be at some point. It just may take an extra couple years like the AXMC.

Yes, and some have delivered. Mine has been in hand for a few weeks.

Edit to add, I’m realllly liking the arca rails and new butt stock. The adjustments are easy and fast. Once I connect with a 6.5 proof barrel, I’ll get some range time.

I like rhe keyslot better on a multical rifle. There's no protrusions it's smooth on the inside of the rail.

MLOK portion got stuck. Had to remove forend to take it out. These barrels need a 1.350 shank diameter (Same as PSR/ AXMC). So with these Gayness (MLOK) you basically have to remove the forend everytime you take out a barrel as it won't come out since the gayness will be in the way. Unless you want to remove the accessory rails instead everytime you put on and take off the barrel.

Good thing the AXSR's will be keyslot....

@Huskydriver the red dot is labeled as a safety valve. They act as gass pressure reliefe ports to deflect gas leakage. The AX50's have them as well

ASR is the new version of the military offering, replacing the PSR. Only available to public as full kits

Thanks for the explanation. I would imagine it’s easier to remove a rail section than the entire fore end but either one could potentially fuck with your zero of anything attached (ATPIaL etc).

On the pressure relief valve it looks black in some pics. Is it also an indicator of what barrel/bolt is in?

Way too many differences to keep track off. Only big similarities is 60 degree bolt, barrel tenon and right side folder lol.

Here's an in-depth video on it... You'd still need to have on in hand to see the other small differences between both systems.

This new style chassis will def be better for comps.

I’m not sure where you got that number. I have an email directly from AINA stating the four screws attaching the scope rail to the action are 5.0 N-m, or 44.24 in-lbs.

Gotcha. That makes sense. I didn't even know there was a PSR. Googling around, the pictures have the PSR looking very similar to the AXMC.

I'm curious which if any of the AX ASR or AXSR parts will be backward compatible with AXMC. For example, the MLOK foreend, the 308 magazine with built-in adapter, the bolts, etc. Have they released verified information on any of this?

not that I can afford a jump to the ASR, but is anyone else not a fan of the safety and grip? The mags (and lack of adapter) are awesome, but otherwise this doesnt look like a upgrade to MC as much as an alternative.

They've only been in the wild for a little less than a month. If anyone recommends one over the other based on time spent, I'd question that persons bias, and that's coming from an AI fanboy.

The biggest upgrade from my limited (20~ days in hand) experience is the Arca rails, butt stock adjustments, and the lack of magazine adapters. If you can justify the extra cost for these features, it's probably for your. I struggle to see where the penny conscious buyer can reasonably enter the AI world without the AT/AE or perhaps pre-14 AX offerings.

In terms of grip, safety, etc., these factors are something to get used to, but were never table steaks for me.

I'll echo nolegs .. MLOK is ultra ghey. Almost did the same thing he did. Almost. The AXSR in keymo is the way to go. No need to take off the for-end to replace barrels.

The 308 mags in the Kit fit fine and look to feed well in the PSR (AXMC)
The bolts aren’ compatible, idk about the forend. Too lazy to break each apart to find out lol.

for those interested in the system, just wait till the AXSR come out.
I know some people who’s had the ASR for a while now, they mainly choose the AXMC cause they’ve spent more time with the rifle system.
People gotta understand, a lot of the modification where made because of the ASR program. So, maybe we don’t like a certain feature, but that’s what SOCOM wanted...

I dig this system for sure. But would prefer a key slot forend. That’s my only negative. And maybe they made the action a tad skinny for my liking. I like them thick.. all homo
