I recently purchased a accuracy intl AE MKii, does anyone have any good loads for it. I have SMK 168 and 175 grain bullets, varget, reloader15, and imr 4895. my best so far is the 168's 42.0 grain of rel 15, lapua brass, and cci br II primers at 2.80 OAL giving me .35-.55 in groupings. I tried to find what my coal should be by loading a bullet long and pushing it in a few times and came up with 2.872" consistanly, so should I try a 2.860 OAL, or is that risky? Thanks for any help!!!!

Re: Accuracy intl loads

O, quick 2nd question...the specs online and in the manual say the rifle is chambered in .308 Win, but on the barrel it says 7.62x51, I know there's a difference, so what is it actually?

Serious you can feed an AI pretty much anything and it will respond.

Re: Accuracy intl loads

Hi,
I use 46.0g of Varget with 150g SMK HPBT with Lapua brass loaded at 2.800 inches. If the conditions are good the rounds will easily be 0.5 MOA.
I know you hsaid you have 168 and 175g bullets but if you fancy trying the 150's the above will work well.

Re: Accuracy intl loads

My buddies MK II shot well with 47.8 varget, Lapua cases and BR2's under a 2156 or a 155.5 berger. I shot the same load out of my AW with great results as well. Seating depth, I went long at 2.91 iirc he was around 2.85 or so.

Re: Accuracy intl loads

45 grains of Varget behind the 175 SMK in Lapua brass, CCI BR2 primer and mag length.

46.5 grains of Varget behind the 155 Scenar in Lapua Brass, CCI BR2 primer and mag length.

175 more accuarate (.25moa vs .05moa) but I shoot the 155's as at longer distance this small gains is lost in the wind and the extra 200fps of the 155 makes up for this.

Ewen, how are you squeezing 45 gr of Varget behind a 175 SMK? Not criticizing or anything; I didn't think you could load that much volume behind a 175.

Tango, your rifle and my SPR have identical dimensions to the lands. Ironically, my rifle shoots the Sierra accuracy load (168 SMK 42gr RL15) really well too. I have loaded that load all the way out to the lands with no problems, other than that it doesn't shoot very well. For me, .04" to .06" from the lands seems to be the sweet spot, regardless of bullet or charge. My new favorite load is 44.5-45 gr RL15 behind the 155 Palma MK. On calm days, it performs .25 MOA or better at 200 yds, and hits the steel all day at 500. 175s haven't worked for me so far, but I don't think I need them when I can shoot 155s out to 1000 yds.
