Ace barrels vs the rest bartlein brux ect...

A good friend of mine has a 7prc on an ace blank, shoots really well! I have a few 6.5 blanks that will be cut to 65cm for my nrl hunter build. They offer a lot of options in 6mm: 237 bore and 236, 6 and 4 groove. I need to call and pin down some info prior to ordering a 6mm blank but I will be eventually.
Edit: forgot to mention I have an ace rem varm 9tw 30cal that getting chambered to 300norma imp at 22" on a bat igniter, that's going in a manners pro hunter for a long range elk rig.

My sample size of 1 is just getting started. Bought it to replace the factory 8 twist 223 lite tube on my tikka primarily because it didn't like to shoot 75 ELDs. I don't have many rounds down it yet but it definitely does better on 75 ELDs than the factory tube, however the Factory 73 ELDm hornady and ADI 55 SBKs are actually less accurate now. I know Manzella is a proponent of them and raved about how perfect this blank dialed in and measured.

I've got a handful of 6mm 237 bore 4gr new, and a 22 cal 219 bore 6gr. All my 6mm are 6cm from 18-22", light palma for hunting rigs, the 22 is the same, 22cm 18" light Palma. I just picked up the last 2 which where the 18" 6cm and 22cm. But the 20" and 22" shoot really well. I have a 6prc ace light palma coming at 20" for my bat vesper short action build. It's a 237 bore 4gr. All these are 7.5tw, the 22 and 6mms.
I'll say I had a Bartlein cut with the Eachus chamber, and it didn't shoot anything well, tried prob 8 different match 22 ammo. Pulled it, put and ace on the rimX that was cut with the same chamber, and it's shot everything pretty well.
I just placed an order with ACE for a 6mm and 224 blank to have chambered up in 6BR and 223rem to compare to my Bartleins and Kriegers for you guys. From what Ive heard, the ACE barrels are shooting great. You dont see or hear much about them on here and I only have a rimfire ACE barrel.
So Ill get these chambered to match my existing 6BR's and 223rem and get testing and post up the results.

I know some comp shooters who are nearby in WA and shoot ACE. They have nothing but good things to say. The deal with UKM is/was nuts. Came out to like 375 for a chambered cut rifle orefit if you order 3 or more. If I didn't already have a half dozens blanks sitting here I would have ordered a bunch from them.
I think your misreading that on UKM website. Thats $375 per barrel for machine work, that does not include the barrel blank itself. Pretty standard machine work pricing.....
Total price would be $740-760 per barrel if you add that $375 machine work to their barrel blank pricing which is $365-$385.....

It used to include the blanks. That was the promo and I talked to one of the guys who works at UKM. UKM and ACE are both in Spokane area. Id be hard pressed to believe that as the ACE blank cost that much... But if that was a thing, you should have bought a truck load of them. If they are charging $500 per blank just for machine work, they were loosing money on that deal by a lot.
Yea a group of us were all talking about it at the time. People are super tribal about barrels ( I know I am) but ace was just starting to sell centerfire barrels and UKM was just starting to do chamber work so it was a good way to get their name out there.
No one is worth $500 for a chamber job. $375 is still steep and too much IMO. With CNC chambering becoming more common, we should actually see prices comes down overtime. Even some 9fbthe local machinists are starting to buy CNC lathes to speed up the process.

There’s just so many good proven barrels out there that’s readily stocked on shelves and so many goods smiths with a long reputation of quality machine work that there’s no reason to fuck around and be a Guinea pig with new shit and builders to save maybe $50 here or there on a prefit. Between Bugholes and OTM they do amazing work and have a huge selection of barrels in stock.

At least when they announced it on rokslide or on the S2h pod and I quickly looked up the prices it was just the machine work. I doubt they were selling chambered ACE tubes below the price of a bartlein blank.
I've shot a lot of different barrels from bartlein kreiger brux hawkhill criterion shilen x-caliber wilson and mccown. I've actually had good success with all of them but the bartlein brux and hawkhill were more consistent but the diamond in the rough was always criterion blanks I feel like they shoot with the top so I'm not to worried about the ace barrels
I've got a 6prc that I'll be picking up in 2 weeks, as well as 2 more 6cm tubes, 18 and 20", also 18" 22cm to get broke in and load dev done for when hunting season opens in a month. It'll be busy. I've saw a lot of groups from 2 different 219 bore 22 cm chambered on aces, and I have a few already ones 65cm other is 6cm, both shoot really well. I went 6gr on the 22cm for less jacket deformation, but all my 6mms are 237bore 4gr 7.5. The 6saum is getting an 8tw 6gr. I love killin shit with fast 6mms. I loved all my HH barrels and really wish Shawn would have stayed in business, cuz his turn around times were usually less than 45 days, and I could get any twist I wanted. I've had no issues getting the dozen plus HH barrels to easily shoot under half minute.
There's a trend on the Rokslide to not clean your barrel........EVER. These guys pour the coals to overbore short barrel magnums with dirty as F powders and dont......ever......clean. I tried it with a 22gt that wasn't loaded that warm, 3100 with 80gr eldm. By round count 250, I'd gained almost 200 fps from round 75. I pulled powder, shot it, it sped up, switched to cleaner powder, retuned it, it spead up. They don't believe in carbon rings either. Those guys put bullets to the test on game, and the do necropsy photos and break downs, test a lot of off the wall shot killing critters like grizzly bears in Alaska using 223/77tmk, with good results I'll add. But never cleaning your barrel isn't a good idea at all. Velocity starts climbing you need to clean.Bet this guy would disagree about UKM and/or Ace barrels…

I’m sure I’m just being a lil bitch, but I can’t stand the S2H, UM, Rokslide conglomerate cult bullshit. So no chance I’ll be spending my small amount of $$ on Ace. They could be great, but with so many other solid options I’ll just keep going elsewhere.
The reason ACE is so intriguing to me is their lead times from order to ship... For a custom cut rifled SS exactly to your specs blank, choose your twist, contour, rifling, etc. they are under 9 weeks... Everyone else is in the 10-16month range if you need something you cant find on the shelf. Their price is also $50-$100 cheaper per blank than everyone else. My last 2 blanks (22rf) arrived in 5 weeks from custom order date.
Thats why Ill be testing a 6mm and 224 ACE blank to compare to my large qty of barrels from Krieger, Mullerworks, Bartlein, Hawk Hill, Osprey, Wilson and Green Mountain in the safe. I have years of test data for 6BR and 223rem on my server to compare and see how they stack up.
My smith has spun quite a few of them and I’ve been around a handful. Every one has hammered right out of the gate. I don’t need another barrel at the moment, otherwise I’d have one or two on the way.

I just ordered 2 22LR blanks because they said 12 weeks but they also said they were thinking they might be able to sneak them in faster.
I heard how bad those springfield 2022 RF rifles were so I grabbed one....it is trash. So I want to see how well a decent barrel will make it shoot.
Yea I also was quoted the 12 weeks on my recent order with ACE today but was told possibly a little quicker.
Still WAY faster than 12-16 months!
I ordered a dozen or so blanks from Krieger in Jan or feb and have only seen maybe 5 or 6 of them so far.
I just finished up this GM barrel blank testing. Just waiting on my ACE blanks to show up to Manzella so I can start my testing.
One of them is a 29" 224 0.219 1-7 heavy varmint.
I have a brand new identical spec Krieger sitting here I've never fired. I'm going to screw that on and start testing and do a direct comparison to the ACE when it arrives. We will see how they stack up
