Active Shooter Gilroy, CA @Gilroy Garlic FEST

This is not black on black crime.... ATF and others are going to do everything except address the root problems in America

Here is his you tube channel

We need to END the 1st amendment- this is a video he likes- same hair- same clothing

or we need to set aside made up Hurt Feelings and address the root causes in America

We know banning Guns led to higher rape rate in Australia and seniors are prey for the strong....

England has a huge problem with criminals.... as some are not white, they ban knives. guns and free speech... ignoring the root causes

Another Gun Free Zone
It is and gets to the point where you can't avoid them(GFZ) if you want to enjoy life with your family and not lock yourself behind closed doors.

The police were on him very quickly, and had him down. The news through 10pm was still talking about a second shooter.

Close to home I see....I grew up in San Diego, so I feel this that much more myself.

Growing up in the 60's my dad said there are two kinds of people in the world, those that get beat and the ones that do the beating. Under no circumstances was I to take crap from anyone. I had to fight and defend my self, but and I do mean but! I was not to pick on anyone and if he found out, he would have my ass. I even got in a fight with my best friend for picking on one of my buddies little brother. I guess this crap starts at home because kids that are bullies should have been handled up at home.
Got off the bus one day and saw another one of my buds get his ass busted by his dad in the front yard, he gave his little brother crap on the bus.
I guess my generation took care of most of the bullies, one way or another. Folks couldn't hide behind a phone, folks handled up on their business. I pray for this generation, God knows they need it.

There will always bullies and bullying, particularly in adolescents.

It's human programming carried over from our primitive roots.
It's in the DNA, as it is with very other animal on the planet, to establish hierarchy and a pecking order.
It's not something that can be instructed out of hormone-filled teenagers and young adults.
The problem is that now that a culture of coddling and protection has been fostered, the weak are convinced that they are entitled to equal status. So when the hot girl turns away the dork and chooses the alpha male, the dork feels like the culture has failed them and they must retaliate.
That's not all of it, of course.
medications, videos like the one above, video games, and much more all contribute to the powder keg.
If the adults would let the kids settle their little skirmishes instead of stepping in at every sideways glance or derogatory comment, then these matters would settle themselves. The way they have for thousands of years.

In agreement.
They claim they want to stop bullying but punish anyone who would stand up.

Maybe it's just me... I see a trend that sticks out that is just hard for me to believe though. Alot (not all) of recent shooters have been average white males. Some have had "memoirs" or "manifestos" found that had to do with their right leaning views or of white supremacy. This one especially, according to multiple news sources, he referenced "White is Might". According to the link https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/29/us/gilroy-california-food-festival-shooting-monday/index.html the shooter made an Instagram account 4 days ago (really odd to be making an account which seems just for the purpose of proof of his views) which he comments on the festival. Almost all of the shooters end up dead, so there is no way to question the persons motives, only proof of comments on the internet. I'm not from the United States, so I can't pretend I know what it's like down there aside from the short time I've spent visiting family. Is there that big of a problem that white supremacists are shooting random people up at such high frequency, or is there something bigger at play here, where these shootings are being orchestrated as a way to continue to eat away at second amendment rights, with the suspect also being the exact demographic getting the most hate from everyone: straight white conservative males. I hope I don't sound too crazy here... Just something I wonder when almost every time these things happen, it's the same identity

Well, to say it is right wing nationalist (skin heads) is not entirely true, IMHO... Many of the shooting have been by shooters with Islamic backgrounds... But, yes, many are young men, teens without any discernible right wing leanings... Young men, video games, and the violent popular culture seem to be common threads for them... It is notable that almost all, or all of these mass shootings take place in "Gun Free Zones"...Places where guns are not allowed...THAT is why I like my state...It is NOT a gun free zone and I pack 24/7...No mass shooting here...Lol

And then, if something does happen, watch all you assets disappear and not have to worry about room and board...

IF something happens to someone else in one of those places, I go the other way. IF something happens to me, there are legal strategies to deal with the outcome.

Many of you assume a sign saying no guns here means "felony". It might or it might not, depending on where you are.

Or you can be a good little sheep.

Did you happen to notice the trend that nearly all happen in gun free zones?

I think a lot of it comes down to stress. Ours is a stress filled country. Everybody is after the almighty $$$. And if you dont have them youre stressed to just get enough to survive.I see it on the highways, everybody is in a massive hurry and its "Get the fuck out of my way." Just yesterday I was in the far left lane of a highway and a moron blew by me on the shoulder at about 90 mph. I could see the rage in his face.

Parents in such a hurry they dont have time to spend with the kids so the kids make it up as they go along. Stress.

In high school this senior used to bully me. I asked my dad what to do and he said fight him. so I called him out to the football field after school. He didnt show but left me alone after that. good parenting.

And permissiveness. Anything goes so nobody, expecially the young, have reasonable boundaries...and that causes...stress.

I don't disagree.
You are eliminating all sporting events, concerts, festivals like this that have metal detectors, bag searches etc. You make a choice to not attend these or disarm neither is a good choice.

Metal detectors, kind of a problem. Easy enough to make a shank out of UHMW tho.

Bag searches, no problem.

I personally hate crowds with a passion and my idea of entertainment rarely includes the kinds of events you're talking about.

........................

All of the above in a nutshell,+ add social media, violent video games, twitter, instagram, facebook ,entitlement society, etc ,etc, last but not least, give your kids a smart phone at a very young age and expose them to things on the internet while you are not watching is a recipe for disaster and the problems we are facing today.

Left lane is for passing-if you're not passing another vehicle get in the right lane. Super simple stuff.

Dont make dumb statements without asking questions. I was in a long line of passing autos...he blew by most of us. Even if I wasnt thats no excuse for passing on the shoulder. Doh!

Early reports "11 people down" not sure on details, this is very close to home and we were driving by this afternoon on our way home from the mid-coast.

Yeah, pretty sad. My in laws live about a block from the Garlic Festival and I had quit a bit of family there. Matter of fact, my daughters were with their grandparents on the way up to the festival when this happened. VERY close to home for me and my family. Luckily the family and friends The were there were able to get out without unjuries. Some weren’t so lucky, to include a 6 year old boy. SMH.... freakin sad world we live in man....

That was my third attempt, the first two I chickened out!

Just kidding I would not pass in the breakdown lane, that said CA is filled with left lane campers that sit in a line waiting to pass a truck or rv, I will blow by in the right lane and dick/duck in.

I live in a state where "No Guns Allowed" signs have no legal consequences...I also Don't go to states that have "legal consequences". I carry insurance. I avoid people, places I'm "likely" to have a problem..I train...I sleep at night. Oh and I have very good security system, too. :)

That is fantastic for you and your family, I challenge that you are extremely limited in where you can travel too experience the country and the world and live within your constraints.

I refuse to live in a box, I refuse to live in fear, I am always evaluating the environment for potential threats and how I would react.

I am honest that in reality I am not as aware, or as ready as I hope to be or should be.

Well, I'm 73, retired widower, and kids all grown...And, my oldest has access to automatic weapons (LEO), if I need a bodyguard...Lol. I live in the great Northwest and have no desire to travel east of the Rockies...BTDT (Note: OR, as of yet, has open carry outside the Leftist strongholds and WA accepts my CCW license... :) ...To each his own.

Herd a bunch of people into a gun free zone. Cut off egress and wait to see if your trap works.

Sadly it did, again !

Maybe a responsible gun owner could have mitigated some of the loss.

Ya think.

Rinse swish repeat.

Thankfully the shooter picked when he did and it appears he didn't have a plan, closing of the last day the crowd was thin. It could have been worse, as you point out sheep corraled.

Cops did good this time,,,,,,there,, I said it.

But I gotta ask why are so many cops needed, who is paying that tab???
There was normal event police presence, and it is a volunteer event so not sure how that played into it. After the shooting started there was rumors of a second shooter who escaped into a stream area in the woods and more LEO was called in for perimeters and canvassing.

From the L.A. Times:

California Atty. Gen. Xavier Becerra said Monday the investigation into the shooting may determine that the shooter broke a California law by purchasing the weapon in Nevada and bringing it into California.
“That weapon could not be sold in California. That weapon cannot be imported into the state of California,” he said. “There is a very strong likelihood, as we develop the evidence, that the perpetrator in this particular case, violated California law, on top of the crimes of homicide.”

Bringing the rifle across state lines, that's what you're concerned about?!?

First step in border inspection stations.

I wish the medical profession would step their game up past random/random. Hell even bath tubes could help a little,...
