Looking for 300WSM brass. Going with either ADG or Lapua. I’ve read many of the threads which indicate there can be a “click” issue with ADG and at times with Lapua. I didn’t even know what that was at first as I’ve never experienced that issue in over 40 years of reloading.

Apparently it has to do with very high quality brass having harder bases, especially ADG which can cause issues if the chamber is not cut correctly or worn reamer was used and can be mitigated by using a body or small base die from the beginning. Many have had no issues at all using normal dies.

Have any of you had this issue and would you recommend one over the other? As far as I can tell, you really can’t go wrong with either ADG or Lapua.

I’m in the Lapua camp. But when I first got my 300WSM many years ago I bought a lot of Nosler brass. It’s been great and was all I could find at the time. 300WSM is a great cartridge, let us know what you decide.

I’ve read that on average, ADG has a bit less volume since it’s thicker, but the same velocities can be achieved with less powder than other cases with more volume. Have you any of you experienced this?

I get a slight click with my ADG 300wsm brass after about 5 consecutive shots. Also don’t feel like I get much more consistent velocity than my Winchester 300wsm brass

Norma makes all the lapua since the prc and win mag cases came about 3-4 years ago. Same with all the new brass that lapua is dropping, gt dasher all that. Made by Norma. It won't be the same, the cas head lettering don't look the same. Cut em open and look at the web construction, it's not the same. Lapua is just doing what they used to, contract Norma to make their brass. Lapua announced they were ceasing production on several headstamps due to war, but now they're making new brass, but not producing the temporary suspended stuff? Cuz they don't make it........flame me, say what you want, I don't care, I heard the words from someone in the industry, who would know these kinda things.

Anyone who has shoot the brass from Norma and lapua knows that’s not true. That’s unsupported by any facts and really irrelevant to op’s question.

Norma also isn’t in the capstone family of products, making it more unlikely.

I sent an email to tech support at Lapua asking if their 300wsm brass was made by Norma and they very quickly replied that none of their brass was made by anyone other than Lapua.
