I am building a .375 Chey Tac and I have to have, and desire to have a cheekpeice that is adjustable left to right for cast-off. Since I am a right handed shooter, that means I would move the cheekpeice out to the right 2/16-3/16 of an inch to put my eye over the center of the reciever/barrel without canting my head.
Steyr makes a $6800 tactical rifle in 338 LM that has a saddle style cheekpeice, and there are two screws at the top that come down through a 1/2 inch wide left to right cutout slot to fasten the cheekpeice to the stock. As ingenuity would have it, you can slide the cheekpeice left to right, to where you want it, then tighten the screws. Problem is, I don't like the looks of the chassis it's on. And I don't care for the looks of the McMillan A-5 stock either, although it will do what I want. I don't like the looks of tactical rifles that look like typical bolt-action sporting rifles but with a few adujstments to the stock added. The kind of look I like is more like that of a BARRETT MRAD, or the Cheyenne Tactical M200 Intervention rifle.
Any ideas?
And again, I am having a custom rifle built, and not buying a factory rifle.
