Gunsmithing Advice on my recent bedding

Hello all,

So I got my savage back yesterday after 3 mths, had it re-barreled /trued / and sharp shooter lug put in.

Anyway to my question I have this sitting in a choate tactical , the barrel is f_ _ king heavy, so I bedded (devcon) from the rear action screw to 1/4 inch in front of the barrel nut. I put 2 layers of electric tape on the nut and in front of it and the front and sides of lug and filled in that huge gap after the recoil lug. Tang is free floated and i can slide a bill under barrel. Is this going to effect the harmonics or am I gtg? A lot of mixed views on the net, so came to the place I trust.

Thanks and be well,
Mike

Savages unfortunately dont have much surface area that you can bed on them due to the rear tang needed floated, and the retarded fire control system. However, as long as you got full GOOD contact in all other areas Im sure you will be fine. Ive done a few with 28" M24 contour or similar barrels with no contact in front of the lug and they shoot lights out.

So would you suggest I removed the bedding in front of nut? Sorry just unclear , or am I good with the space the 2 layers of electric tape provided?

Thanks again ,
Mike
