AI bonding agent. How to get it to release.

Title has it all. I know a few guys have got their actions out or chassis apart.

Trying to remove the rear buttstock on an AT

What's it take to get this bonding agent to release?

Torch heat or hair dryer heat?

Heat gun worked for me. I wouldn't take a torch to it.

My replacement buttstock came with devcon

If it doesn’t come with anything you could go to an automotive supply house and buy some 3m 8115 panel bond. It will hold a roof on a car.

Only downside is I’m not sure if you can purchase a tube that can be used with out the dispensing gun. They are not cheap

Also both surfaces have to be roughed up so it gets a mechanical bond

Did you replace the buttsock on your AT? If so, how is was the removal/install? Any thoughts so far?

Im replacing the buttstock on a pre 14 AX. Removal was super easy. For the replacement it had to go to MHSA. For the AT's the install would be super easy.

I tried to remove one screw on a post 14 AX buttstock and ended up stripping it so I gave up on the whole idea. Didn’t want to screw things up any further. Good luck with it. AI doesn’t build things to ever come apart again

Does the AT post 14 buttstock retrofit require de boding of parts? Im interested on picking up one of those post 14 rears if i snatch a used AT in the near future.

It will require debonding of the buttstock.
