OMG!Not just a normal Anschutz
Well the Fortner and 5418 share the same inlet/action footprintOMG!
A Fortner in an ATX?
Please god let it be true
edit
looks like maybe a 54 variant in a chassis.
(”5418 reasons to visit AI booth…”)
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!Well the Fortner and 5418 share the same inlet/action footprint
Either that or a real beefy premium updated 54 version, with say integrated 20 moa picatinny, fat profile, maybe a 1:12 twist option.I'm interested to see if Anschutz starts making the 54.18 (match 54 repeater) action again. It's a different action than what is in their 17xx series of 54 based repeater rifles they currently make. If this is the case there will be some very upset people out there that have paid a premium for an action that was discontinued. I have owned 3 of them and they are spectacular! This is going to be awesome if that's what is going on...
It wouldn't be worth it if it's not a repeater that uses the 50XX series of triggers IMO...Either that or a real beefy premium updated 54 version, with say integrated 20 moa picatinny, fat profile, maybe a 1:12 twist option.
Agreed. Would be nice if they also came out with a premium light single stage 50xxIt wouldn't be worth it if it's not a repeater that uses the 50XX series of triggers IMO...
You can adjust the first stage out of the 5018 / 5020 trigger if I remember correctly.Agreed. Would be nice if they also came out with a premium light single stage 50xx
OK, and it performs equally well? You can adjust the first stage out of the 5018 / 5020 trigger if I remember correctly.
I think so, but I am a two stage guy so...OK, and it performs equally well?
Good to know
Since the cats out of the proverbial bag by design . 54.18s with the 5018 trigger are being off loaded at an east coast port and should arrive at our facility next week. They will feature 2 different barrel lengths. One threaded and one unthreaded.I'm interested to see if Anschutz starts making the 54.18 (match 54 repeater) action again. -Assuming they use the same magazine as the original?Since the cats out of the proverbial bag by design . 54.18s with the 5018 trigger are being off loaded at an east coast port and should arrive at our facility next week. Same mags. Pressed and pinned. Anschutz barrels. 20” threaded straight .900 taper, 24.5” .950 iirc straight taper not threaded. Don’t have barrel weights yet and don’t have the chassis weight.-Assuming they use the same magazine as the original?
-Pressed and pinned barrel or threaded?
-Anschutz made and installed barrel?
-Got any weights for the two barrel lengths with the chassis as a folder?
Pretty sexy!
Is Anschutz backboring the muzzle on the threaded 20"? They did that for a bit on some threaded barrels they offered.Same mags. Pressed and pinned. Fortner will require using the bolt toggle to close instead of the bolt cap.Very cool! I'm sorta struggling to see how this will work with a Fortner though, how do you get your thumb behind the bolt?
We should have pricing ironed out in the next week or so.@deadly0311
What will the price be for the 54.18 action and how much for the chassis?
Yes we are. They are still doing that on current production rifles as well.Is Anschutz backboring the muzzle on the threaded 20"? They did that for a bit on some threaded barrels they offered.
That takes away a major part of what makes the Fortner special in my opinion. Would you consider designing a bolt cap that sticks out the side of the chassis for the thumb to rest on?Fortner will require using the bolt toggle to close instead of the bolt cap.
It’s something we could look at but I wouldn’t expect it anytime soonThat takes away a major part of what makes the Fortner special in my opinion. Would you consider designing a bolt cap that sticks out the side of the chassis for the thumb to rest on?
I.e. this one?Fortner will require using the bolt toggle to close instead of the bolt cap.
Well that is gonna cost me...lol, now I will have 3 setups for my FortnerAnd don’t think we forgot about you Fortner guys!
Unfortunately Anschutz will not be selling this in Europe. Great initiative from the North American division though!
Since everything is coming up smelling like roses… any opportunity to bring back a “left-handed“ 54:18 repeater? ()And don’t think we forgot about you Fortner guys!
I’d doubt it but you never know. Germany is funny about left handed guns.Since everything is coming up smelling like roses… any opportunity to bring back a “left-handed“ 54:18 repeater? ()
So there will be no LH options?I’d doubt it but you never know. Germany is funny about left handed guns.
1727 maybe but I don’t see Germany producing the 54.18 in LHSo there will be no LH options?
Not talking about the action. I know the 1727 is available for southpaws but the chassis is unlikely to be made in LH or at least initially unless someone has better information than my gut feel1727 maybe but I don’t see Germany producing the 54.18 in LH
Same when I wrote AI in the UK regarding where to buy the Anschutz variant in the EU. Very weird answer saying ”we are AI” clearly having no idea about the chassis. I wrote again with an explanation that I was asking about the AI produced chassis for anschutz footprint and once again the answer was ”we are AI”. Sort of that Senate hearing feeling when the answer in no way matches the question asked.@deadly0311 when I went by the AI booth and asked about it I got the "huh? what are you talking about? go away dude asking weirdo questions" answer.
Maybe I asked the wrong person/my breath was bad/my RBF was on?
No that is the typical AI response. I am surprised that they didn't throw you out@deadly0311 when I went by the AI booth and asked about it I got the "huh? what are you talking about? go away dude asking weirdo questions" answer.

Asked about what specifically? The AI guys have been working hand in hand with us on this project. There was a 54.18 in the ATX chassis on display at SHOT@deadly0311 when I went by the AI booth and asked about it I got the "huh? what are you talking about? go away dude asking weirdo questions" answer.

Some at the company clearly didn’t get the memo based on my email exchange.Asked about what specifically? The AI guys have been working hand in hand with us on this project. There was a 54.18 in the ATX chassis on display at SHOT
