I am preparing to apply Cerakote to a barreled action with an airbrush. Mine came with 3 different needle/head combinations; fine, medium, and large. Anybody out there have any experience with this stuff in an airbrush? What head set works best for this material?

HVLP guns work best, with that being said you want to use a .8 tip if you have it.

If you MUST use one of the supplied tips, go bigger. A smaller tip with CeraKote tends to atomize it to quick.

What alternative would work better than the supplied tips? It is a Badger 150 if that makes any difference.

use your large tip. I would also ran 15psi with that gun if you have a regulator otherwise the medium tip will be better at 20+

I run around 25 psi and a large tip. You can control the flow of the paint with your finger to get an even coat. Too much air and you waste paint to overspray.

It seems to lay down a bit smoother for me with lower psi with that gun. You may wanna try on a test piece to see what suits your spraying technique. I would stick with medium if you don't have a lot of expirence with the product. Cerakote isn't gonna flash on you like an air cure. Take your time and lay down a nice even coat. the large tip will be better but waste is an issue as mentioned before
