Local PO that helped me get a new CCW permit when my old job cancelled mine out of spite was a gunnery officer on the Missouri or Iowa , I forget which.
Doesn’t matter which you are legend if you served on either.
Sad seeing that MiG-23 go down! This MIG 23 crashed at this particular airshow last weekend.

Is that the story of buying these surplus, his crashing one and the Sgt or whomever writing it off and letting him take another?I was fortunate enough to spend time with the legend Art Lacey. Very fascinating story of how he bought this B-17G many years ago.
Too bad he is gone

Yes that is correct, he worked out a deal with the base commander at Altus AFB. He ended up getting a better plane, and was able to get many additional parts in the deal. He was a very big gun enthusiast as well. I got to spend a good amount of time with him, and he treated my like familyIs that the story of buying these surplus, his crashing one and the Sgt or whomever writing it off and letting him take another?

I took the first two pictures in early January 2020, the third picture is from the internet. Since they got to pose it, they got a much better picture. There lighting is much better.^^^ I've seen that one quite a few times. Those pics were taken on different days because it isn't sitting in the same location in the last pic. The Museum of Naval Aviation at NAS Pensacola is an awesome place. I go every chance I get, and usually schedule it so I can watch the Blue Angels practice their routine during the season.

Its been 3 1/2 years and I frankly don’t remember. What are the marks on the tail.....looks like someone ripped off a big sticker?
Drive by it almost everyday when at our son’s home. The entire place (Eglin AFB) is living history. One of my favorites, though I am not able to actually visit is the site where Jimmy Doolittle trained for the Tokyo Raid. Located off of Bob Sikes Rd on the way to Defuniak Springs.Grandpa I believe when he solo'd. Should be around 1938-39.
