Beautiful and I am hoping to catch a few air shows this year to get some good pics of B17 and B29’s… I have a heart for the old birds!

I actually took this picture...it was so long ago, I could swear we were still flying biplanes! haha

And, I'm pretty sure I took this self-portrait shot on the same flight....Clark AFB to Kadena AFB. .
I always thought the F-20 Tigershark was one of the sweetest looking aircraft….like if you had AI design an aircraft it would be it.

My love is for the F4U, P40 and P47 but the F20 looks like a sky dart. Never understood its 4th echelon status.

Ah, the F-20. Yeah....went into competition with the F-16 and lost...properly so. The F-16 is far more capable.

We were not so very pleased with it as it only had one engine.....no single engine fall back in case of problems.

Of course the F-16 is a one hole burner as is the F-35. That crap would make me very nervous flying across the ocean to deliver planes. Yeah, they follow a tanker who navs as well as tops them up. But still, one engine goes out and the only place the pilot is going is into the drink.

It is true that when a engine is severely damaged they often throw compressor, and perhaps even a turbine blade, and they can destroy the other engine also. Thought there are provisions in the shrouding of try to mitigate this....I've been out of this for so damn long that I have no idea really as to the state of the art in dual engine fighters and how they protect the engines to encourage a situation where both are not taken out at one time. Actually, this is an issue for all redundant systems (or was). E.g redundant hydro systems....don't run the fucking lines side by side so one lousy bullet can take out both primary and secondary.

Yeah, the F-20 was one beautiful aircraft.

Must be Naval aviator.

Guessing you like your landing gear strong and able to handle drop straight out of the sky from completely cutting throttle.

Nope, not a joke....I was led astray by the bubble canopy with the flat section behind it....looks like this Spitfire. And the line of exhaust pipes running down the nose. I got it now, Yak-9.

Yak 9 from post above.

I get that the lines are similar, but I’ve never known someone to paint up a Spit like it was a Ruskie so it gave me a chuckle lol.

Nope. USAF. Flying over water is flying over water.

didn’t even notice. I was posting while also struggling w the FBI’s eVAF system to get a UPIN. By the by, it was a typical fucked Gov website and process.

So, just a quick glance and a quick post.

I’m so ashamed…a new low (Animal House) Hahaha

got a rubber band ?

Penny Planes? Haven't seen one of those since scouting. had to have a rubber band revolution counter/winder so you didn't put to much torque on the main frame and break it, plus hand winding took forever.

Had a contest for a glider ride and my build was probably going to win (8 min flight time on maiden flight) until a guy named Boyd backed into me accidentally. I was crushed, and so was the plane. Very unhappy camper as I had misjudged the contest to be a week later and spent most of the night building it from about 10% complete. No sleep and unfortunate accident made for a bitter learning lesson. Funny how the only reason I remember his name is because of that event. guy that won had a shorter flight time then my maiden flight..............
