Hello Everyone,

I am new to the forum and hope someone here can provide some insight into a very nice vintage scope I have.

I did all the research I could and am having trouble finding a resource for identifying some details behind the optic other than the basic history of the Ajack company.

The optic is an Ajack 2.5x70 with the fine crosshair reticle and has very nice glass. It only has the elevation adjustment turret and focal plane knob that is locked in place with a set screw. I believe the windage is adjusted via the Redfield scope mount. This optic was mounted on a sporterized 1903 Springfield which I have had since my grandfather passed years ago.

Markings are:
Ajack - GERMANY (right side elevation turret base)
2.5x70 - 1468 (left side elevation turret base)

I'm guessing #1468 is the serial number?

Please see the attached pictures.

Any insight and information into this scope would be greatly appreciated, I am not looking to sell it, but would love to know more about it's history, manufacture date, import time frame, etc.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Best Regards,
Eliot

You have a nice vintage scope. I can't help with the exact dates, but it has features common with scopes from around WW2. I have a similar scope on my Swedish Mauser, the glass is incredibly clear, even compared to modern scopes. The top adjustment with the set screw will raise and lower the reticle, very obvious, not like a modern scope that stays centered, it will change your elevation POI, some models had range marks on the ring, I made my own marks. There is no windage adjustment, you have to physically shift the scope. The ring in front of the rear bell is for adjusting parallax, twisting it will slide a set of lenses forward and backward inside the tube, it may be sticky, try a little heat from a hair dryer and gentle persuasion. Good luck!
