Went up this morning with a buddy to the spot he killed his Buck yesterday ostensibly to find his pocket knife and maybe get me a deer . We were messing around watching some Elk on the side of the mountain when I spotted a Doe closer to us and when I dropped my Binocs the Buck was even closer . Probably 100 yards or less quartering shot . The 165 SST destroyed the shoulder , took out the lung and then deposited itself neatly on the far side under the hide . Never did find that darn pocket knife though .

Thanks guys , I know he isn't a Monster but he is the first Buck I have killed in nearly 20 years (I liked to shoot a lot more than I liked to hunt) and it was nice to have a little success .

It could be worse, my dad left his Leica rangefinding binoculars on the mountain one time. For some reason, I was the one that had to go back and find them though?

Good buck by the way!

Unfortunately for my buddy the pocketknife in question was a Chris Reeves Sebenza with Titanium handles and custom inscription

Not quite as expensive as the Leica Binocs but still about 400 bucks worth of knife with sentimental value as well .

He made it when he worked at Chris Reeves some years ago .

The Buck is sitting in the freezer and I am trying to talk my wife into letting me make some Sliders for dinner out of the Burger . We mixed it 1 to 4 with bacon end cuts and I am looking forward to the first taste
