Why is there such a disparity between cost???

The 168g shoots better out of my Rem. 700 than the 175g. But I can buy the 168 for $23 per box while the 175g costs about $49 per box.

What gives?

Hopefully next year I'll be reloading and won't have to worry about it, but right now, that makes one helluva difference in the cost of shooting.

the 168 FGMM is much more popular, so they can probably make money at a lower profit margin. Thats my guess for the lower price.

If you can qualify, I picked up a few cases of 168gr FGGM from CMP last year...I wanna say that they were under $0.75/round.

I mostly shoot my handloads but use them as referents for target and hunting loads from my several .308s.

Good luck,

FH

Not sure where you're finding FGMM 175s for $49.00/box, but Midway USA has them for $34.99/box list. When you add in the SH Midway coupon discount, they're around $32.00/box. Still more than the 168s, but $49.00/box...wow. Also, you can find them on sale from time to time at Midway; can't use the coupon code when they're on sale, but my recollection is that the price is in the mid/upper $20s when they're on sale.

That is limited time only. I don't expect to see that kind of deal again. I was in for 600 of the 175's and ended up buying 1,000 of the 180's... and wish I'd bought more.

The 180's were high power match, a line that is no longer made.

I'm sure you're right. I've found CMP about the most user-friendly business in the shooting sports, and, unquestionably, the best customer service. I've had only 2 issues in more than 2 dozen transactions over the years and both were resolved to my complete satisfaction within three days.

Best regards,

FH

Try the southwest ammo 175gr. It's about a 1.00 each. I just shot a 6" group at 900 yards. There cs is outstanding. And great guys.

I've got about 190 left of 200 rounds of FGMM 175's I bought for about $220 shipped thru Midway, problem is they won't shoot in my gun so they are no good to me.
Another plug for SW's 175's, not only are they cheap but my groups were half the size with their ammo versus Federal...amazing.
