Me firing an original 1842 Springfield with a rifled barrel from 1855
I've only shot black powder once, the recoil was definitely different from modern guns. More of a push than a whack. How much for one of those nice rifles you build...or if you dont sell them, for something comparable. Rifled barrel sounds interesting.

And welcome to the HIde, congrats on having a thick skin. Youll need it here.

Just stop old man before the Nigerian prince cleans you out.

Ok. Fair enough.

Just please try to stay in the technical forums for a bit at first.

we are friendly here or would be if there wasn't such a upswing in subversive attacks here recently.

And there HAS DEFINITELY BEEN AN UPSWING IN THOSE.

No...you can hang out in the bear pit...thats all good. Even post and talk. But posting radioactive shit right out the gate?

I'll need more than some pictures of muzzlestuffers and a bunch of name and location name dropping from here out.

I'm a first impression, gut feeling kind of guy.

I think you will fit in here just fine. This group of miscreants loves shit-posting and razzing and the roast that you smell is your own ass being roasted.

On the BP thing, good on you. I had great respect for my friend, John (RIP,) who hunted old does on his aunt's 20 acres in southern Oklahoma. He used a black powder muzzleloader and even made his own .50 cal lead balls.

Tasty venison, too. I was the happy recipient of some choice bits of it. Plus his one elk harvest. I made a chili out of that I remember to this day, 18 years later.

He used to give the deer ribs to his dad, who bred and raised Beagles and he would feed them as treats. One time, John gave me a set of ribs and I smoked them on my charcoal grill (using my favorite brisket seasoning and mesquite logs.) It came out like a savory jerky. John said, and I quote, "That is the last time that I waste ribs on dogs."

I shoot heavy bench rifle as well, this is my 32lb under hammer. Built in the late 1940's by Bill Large. It shoots a .504 ball and 120 grains of ff

Gotta put a little more powder in that smokepole there bud. I blow bigger clouds with my Vaporesso Luxe 80S vape mod and that is only on 17 watts with 50VG/PG juice...

All right I jest. Like everybody else is saying here, welcome to the forum and you gotta have thick skin around here. And anybody wanting to turn a conversation into something that resembles a Dark Web convo from a Ukrainian or Turkish server? Forget about it. Ain't happening here.

In all my years in the gun world, never seen such a rowdy bunch as this. Not used to having my integrity questioned.
Buy anyhow, I was brought up rough and tumble
I mentioned before in another thread that I think the reason I stick around here is because it reminds me of a group of fellows I used to work with, including some dear friends who passed on. Anything you said was used against you. And if you said nothing, someone would make something up. Jason was a guy who had been to prison but he studied and learned our trade while in there. He was physically slow, so, my friend, Lee, dubbed him Zippy, the wonder slug.

Curtis then started the rumor that he had a testicle removed while he was in the pen and his nickname was Uno. That went on for a day of people calling him Uno. Finally, he wondered Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? I let him in on the secret. He laughed. That's all it takes. Expect the horseplay to continue, have a good laugh.

And, to borrow from Shakespeare, "Revenge is a dish best served cold."

What do you do now?
I have been self employed for many years, I build network infrastructure and do repair as well. After 9/11 with tightened security it was a mess, so I decided I just really didn't want to fly any more. I do CCTV work as well, and currently installing new surveillance system at one of my gun clubs.

9/11 was amazing. Before then, Hijackers would sneak in guns or bombs and get to where they want to go. These guys had utility knives for opening boxes. And no one has ever tried to hijack a plane since then. No more hijackings ever.

You are in more than one gun club?

Can't imagine a glownigger trying to pimp a muzzle loader.
Single shot, takes 30-45 seconds to reload unless you are VERY well practiced at it.

Nah, it's just not possible.

I mean, did he build Dick Cheney's shotgun ?
That would get respect from me.
