Started down this road in June. My Defiance action came in last Thursday and we finished the rifle up on Sunday.

I'll call it 98% done as I still need to get the cartridge markings engraved and get it Cerrakot'ed at some point. NEED to figure out if I'm going with black matte metal or a light OD Green?

DEFIANCE, Deviant SA with my old Badge number/Radio Call as my serial number.
28" HART ,1 in 8" ,Across the Course profile barrel
Mc Millan A-5
Surgeon DBM
Timney 510-U set at 1 1/2 pounds
ATLAS bipod
NF ATACR 5-25X , NJ ultralite rings.

Came out at 16 pounds 4 ounces. Fired a half dozen rds today getting it on paper, and starting to break in the barrel. Unfortunately we are having our wintertime "downslope winds" now and it's been 15-30 mph all day long.

Now with some fired cases I'll set up my size die and load some test rds tonight.

My first dedicated LR Build.

get black t coating its the strongest metal coating in the world special forces get this

I think the FDE looks really sharp. That's a pretty sweet looking rig already. I just picked up a GAP 6.5x47 Lapua that I had bought from a guy on snipershide back in October. Barreled action only. I had it shipped to my gunsmith for cerakoting and to get the barrel threaded. I went with boring old black, despite my 'smith trying to get me to do something a little more lively. I kind of regret it now.

OD Green or matte black is more my era than the desert colors. But I'm tempted to go FDE as Mr. Swaggers stick looks pretty damned sweet.

I'm with you on that. While I don't have an era of time in the service to reference, I have typically preferred OD Green to FDE. I've opened up to FDE more in the past few months, mainly b/c I bought a rifle on snipershide that had an FDE AICS chassis, and it started to grow on me. Then my gunsmith convinced me to get my barrel cerakoted in FDE on a rifle that is sitting in a plain OD Green Manners. I didn't really like the idea, but I reluctantly agreed. Really glad I did as it looks pretty cool in my opinion, especially with the black accents.

By the way, I'd like to hear more about your rifle. Did you build it yourself? Are you a gunsmith, or are you a DIY guy? I'd like to build one on my own one day. Just curious on how you went about it if you did it yourself.

I ordered a couple of McM A5 stocks for future builds back in late January/early February this year, then when I had some slack time in April, trued a SA 700 and chambered-up a 1-8.5tw Bartlein sendero contour in 260 Imp 30*. CeraKoted the metal in FDE, then - rather than sit back & wait for several months, I bedded it into a tan w/blk web B&C 1000 stock that I'd gotten with BO M5 DBM inlet. It shot great in that stock, but one day, I found a McM A5 in forest camo online for the 'right' price, and wound up with the 260 in that stock. Wasn't sure how that color combination was going to look, but the more I shot it & looked at it, the more I liked it - and it still shot great! In fact, as the round count reached about 130, the Bartlein really began to shine where accuracy's concerned.

Whadaya think about the contrasting colors?

And this is it in the desert camo stock. I like this a bit better than the forest camo job, but they both look good to me - obviously, I'm biased. Whatever color you choose to go with for the metal, it looks to me as though you're going to have a great rifle. I was torn whether to go with a 6.5x47 or the 260 Imp 30*.
