Yes, that's the one. His ratings were so low at msnbc that he was scamming people out of their gun parts and money to supplement his income. J/K.... It was Chris Mathews of Longshot Rifles. I almost sent him an expensive box of parts before I read what he had done to a few people.

Bottom line is that I bit off more than I could chew with this project. I was hoping to jump start my business with the group buy and produce a rifle of my own design at the same time. With all of that, I have overwhelmed myself.

The actions that I am currently taking to remedy this situation are as follows:
1. I have hired a business manager that will help keep things on track, as well as keep me on track with the SHR build. Beyond this build, he will keep the business focused to provide continued improvement of lead times and product releases.
2. I am bringing in a bunch of capital to help cashflow issues that I have encountered. Despite popular belief, It has taken way more cash to produce this rifle than will be generated by the total sales of the buy. I am ok with that, but it will take a few years of sales to recoup my investment.
3. I am getting help locally to finish out the SHR project. My goal is to finish all of the rifles by the end of August.

Just to show that I have not run away with your money. I have substantial investment in outside parts including stocks, barrels, etc. I over purchased to try to anticipate finishing out the build. Not all of the parts are included in the images, but most are.

I want to thank everyone that has continued their support in spite of the lengthy build time.

3 or 4 of them have made it out I believe.....and I think that was only due to lawyers being pulled in.

Re: *Announcing the 2009 Sniper's Hide Build Rifle *

He made it clear back in July that he "bit off more than [he] could chew with this project" and that he needed to bring in "a bunch of capital to help cashflow issues that I have encountered". Then he went on to say that "It has taken way more cash to produce this rifle than will be generated by the total sales of the buy. I am ok with that, but it will take a few years of sales to recoup my investment."

I think it's painfully obvious that he used the fronted funds on other projects and doesn't have capital to buy the remaining parts required to complete the builds except as new business comes in.

He hasn't posted on this site since the above "update" in July 2011. He's changed his company name. He's not communicating now. The writing on the wall says that you won't get your rifle outside of having a lawyer send him a threatening letter.

Seemed pretty apparent to me when I saw those photos there were a whole bunch of actions missing?
I asked him about this at some point and he said that was not a problem as the actions were done in house.
Either his equipment is broke or the vendor he used for these has told him to fuk off is my guess.
One or both is very plausible, no telling with this scumbbag.

A majority of the small parts and I don't see 25 of anything laying there.

If you guys that are involved in this group build don't LAWYER UP I have zero sympathy. I've said it for months. At this stage in the game your only option is to threaten him with court and possible take him to court so he can't continue with this bullshit. He will repeat his actions. But if you get a judgement on him, it directly affects him and his business for a long time.

Get your local lawyer to file in your county/city.
They will grant a "long arm judgement" and he will be served by his local LEO.
He can either show up or get another verdict because he chose not to show up. It will affect his credit. Every time he goes to buy a car, get a loan, mortgage a house..... it pops up as a flag.

Do something about it instead of complaining on here. That will not get your rifle to you! I had to do it to get mine from him. He complied pretty quickly when his local crew served him some paperwork that said he will need to be in court in 10 days.

Guys, I understand that you have already shucked out a lot of money for these rifles already, but if you don't shuck out a little more for a lawyer as mentioned above, THEN YOU WILL NOT GET THE RIFLE YOU'VE BEEN SCREWED OUT OF, PERIOD! Please listen to KYS!

Anyone who doesn't want to deal with the "hassle" of lawyering up to get their rifle and wants to sign it over to me to try to recover, PM me.

EDIT: to clarify, my "offer" was more of a rhetorical one. I am not an attorney. I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn Express either. However, I HATE seeing this happen. While it must be immensely frustrating to those of you who have $1700-$4K invested in this fiasco, it's also frustrating to those of us on the outside watching all this occur, and to see George/Aztek Arms continue to ignore all this as if it will go away in time - which is what he's counting on, I'm sure.

Since no one is really willing to step up and organize those who are still waiting on a build, it is likely that things will be in the same place come 2013, 2014...

So, I emailed an attorney who has worked on firearms cases in the past to appraise him of this "situation" and see if he has any suggestions or would be willing to assist (as a group) those who have not received their rifles and already paid for them.

Again, I have no dog in this fight other than being a frustrated bystander, watching this whole thing go down as it has.

Several of us have contracted an attorney. There are only three of us as of this afternoon. Kinda surprises me , but whatever. Anyone else interested in being part of the suit, please PM me.

Re: *Announcing the 2009 Sniper's Hide Build Rifle *

If suit is to be filed in UT (likely) local counsel is easy to find and get for counsel in various plaintiff's (and plaintiffs') states. Sounds like this clown (George Liechty), did interstate business via interstate wire (i.e., the internet). This has federal crime implications if fraud was committed.

Lawsuits are not off-the-rack Hartt, Schaffner & Marx. Real attorneys know this.

Good luck,

Harry

Re: *Announcing the 2009 Sniper's Hide Build Rifle *

This sucks. I know an attorney here locally that could help you all out. I am using him to set up my trust. He is based out of Orem. I am pretty sure I held one of the guns at an Expo last month. It was for sale.

If you would like the guys name PM me.

Re: *Announcing the 2009 Sniper's Hide Build Rifle *

If everyone gets a local lawyer to them, he will potentially have to travel to defend himself. Then you're looking at court costs, lawsuit, legal fees, travel, lodging, car rental all going against him. He will take a hefty hit, as well as his credit when they see he is being sued by 15 people in different states. He would never be able to get a loan again, it would basically be hell for him.

The only way to make things better are either pay everyone back or turn over the rifle.

(guys, please don't contact me for legal help, I am not a lawyer. I just know what I did but it differs from state to state)

Re: *Announcing the 2009 Sniper's Hide Build Rifle *

For what it's worth, I contacted him to inform him that any future communication would be via my lawyer and that he would be served with court papers from Texas within the week. The next day I received pictures of "my rifle" with promise of delivery within the week pending function testing. I'm going to continue my legal actions until said rifle is in my hands, but I guess he might actually be taking things seriously. Hopefully he'll either start shipping rifles or refund checks. Either that or rack up frequent flyer miles going to various states to defend himself in court...

Yea, definitely don't stop the legal action. This is the trick he has been using to buy time for the last few years. Every time legal action is imminent, he tells you how close your rifle is to shipping.

Re: *Announcing the 2009 Sniper's Hide Build Rifle *

I agree. Keep the legal proceedings going until you have received the rifle in good condition and have test fired it. If anything is wrong with it, box it up with a typed note and send it back to him. Make him fix it. You are owed a functional rifle and after 3 years it had better be immaculate!

Re: *Announcing the 2009 Sniper's Hide Build Rifle *

I have been reading this over the years ( sounds gay but it is the truth) and I can't believe what someone lets a "builder" get away with.

Take kys338's advice. Lawyer up! another $500 (maybe less) on top of what you have spent is nothing. If you don't you cannot complain anymore and won't get sympathy from too many people on here.

Quite obvious that George is a crook and needs to be taught a lesson. Court costs and ruined credit will do it, unless you make the trip to his shop and handle it the old fashioned way. Lawyer will be cheaper than traveling to his shop.

Re: *Announcing the 2009 Sniper's Hide Build Rifle *

Dan,

I have attached the final invoice on your rifle. I will be completing, test firing and preparing to ship the rifle early next week. Please have your dealer send an ffl via email. Please remit the final portion of your payment so I can ship it out next week.

Re: *Announcing the 2009 Sniper's Hide Build Rifle *

Have your lawyer send the requested FFL and a certified check so he'll know you're serious about taking delivery or suing his ass.

Best wishes for good luck,

FH

Re: *Announcing the 2009 Sniper's Hide Build Rifle *

If you send this clown another dime your crazy!! This guy is a moron. First off the build isn't even what we originally agreed to.

I don't know about you but I never agreed to "Oh I can't get the 3 position safety to work" and "It doesn't even have the SnipersHide Logo on it.

Excuse me but the only reason I even entertained the build is because it was an official "Snipers Hide" build. Not to buy some jack legged build from an unknown builder. I bought into the SH Build mania. And now it's not even a true SH Build.

The Picture we saw early on was one of desert camo. This baby puke looking stock that is the end result isn't what I had envisioned.

I can think of many reasons I wouldn't send this sleazeball another penny.

Ran't over!! I haven't lashed out on here before but this is way beyond pathetic. So now he has the audacity to decide he's gonna finish a build and "Send me the money"

Re: *Announcing the 2009 Sniper's Hide Build Rifle *

I would ask for complete photos before sending any more money. When it is absolutely, fully, ready, probably would be okay to send the payment.

AND make sure it is the serial number that belongs to you, not just some other rifle that he is sending pics of to everyone.

For all anyone knows he can just be sending the same picture to everyone saying "your rifle is finished, send me more money"

Re: *Announcing the 2009 Sniper's Hide Build Rifle *

Only way he'd get more money out of me(if i was in the build) would be via a escrow account. There is absolutely no way I'd send this guy anymore money before till the rifle was sitting at my FFL.

Re: *Announcing the 2009 Sniper's Hide Build Rifle *

I haven't received an email, and I WILL NOT send another penny until I see pics of a completed rifle with MY serial # AND the snipers hide logo...

You didn't threaten him with a lawsuit or have an attorney send him a letter, so you don't get priority.

Re: *Announcing the 2009 Sniper's Hide Build Rifle *

I did not use an attorney.
If he has invoiced you for the final payment & you have paid it you are well within your rights to demand the the completed rifle or all of its part be shipped.

Isn't that the crux of the issue here? People have been "demanding" them for the past year but if they can get a hold of him are typically given the "2 more weeks" line, and then nothing.

Re: *Announcing the 2009 Sniper's Hide Build Rifle *

hahah. So for $1000 he will clean the gun and tell you what other parts you need to buy from him? Can I purchase this package as a non customer? sounds pretty legit considering probably every other gunsmith will do essentially the same thing for free.

I feel so bad for the people who are new to rifles and will be scammed into buying this bs because they don't know any better yet.
