Another Homemade Induction Annealer Idea

made in china best part of the hand held version is the testicle cancer you will never know you are giving your self till it too late , but never fear after the doctor removes your balls you could live an almost normal life I joke . but that is pretty cool .

I just built one. It works pretty well and is fast. You do need the fan on your bench or you only get about 25 cases done before it shuts down, Buy an extra timer they seem to puke. First one lasted 100 cases or so before you couldn't read display to change time. Second one has been working for a couple hundred cases.

I built this same setup this month. I ran the heater and nothing seems to work the way it should. The heater got DAMN HOT and I couldn't seem to get the quick temps he got in the video. My 6 Creed brass took sometimes over 10 seconds and the coils themselves glowed red. Im getting heat traveling down to the base instead of staying at the neck.Any suggestions?

While it is an induction heater it seems to be designed for single use heating of nuts and bolts not the constant on and off
cycles required for annealing brass.

Without cooling that solid wire coil will cook. Better off building something designed for brass annealing, it will cost you a bit
more but will be faster and better.

Another thing is the coil, the smaller the diameter the more current it draws the faster it heats the brass making the
timing critical. Not a big problem with large cases that have lots of material to conduct the heat but with smaller cases
there is a very narrow window.

Seems to me this is an adequate machine for the money. Sure a lot cheaper than the Annie and seems to work as well. My mechanic has one and watching him dismember suspension parts was impressive. I think I'd like to try this one. I don't know, but it seems a safer bet than a kit from China on eTay. I think I can rig some sort of auto feed but I'm wondering about water cooling. The cooling is simple enough but getting it all connected correctly seems elusive right now. Has anyone tried this machine with one of the Annie coils? That seems like a simple solution without having to fabricate something.
