Well I have fallen victim to the FTF_FTE snafu of the .308 178gn HPBT Hornady Superformance....
It was so bad I could not get the bolt carrier back or pound out the shell. I finally resorted to careful prying of the bolt carrier with a chisel.
According to the Hornady web site, my POF 308 with a 20in barrel should have been ok. But it wasn't. A couple of photos to demonstrate:
I don't know what the blue stuff is...
The first round ejected but left a primer I found in my magazine. The second round didn't eject, resulting in the special pojectile crimping on round 3. Also note the firing pin punched through both primers.... BTW, I have been slinging PMC 147 FMJ's out of this thing by the box (420 rounds so far) and this is my first FTF-FTE. I guess I shouldn't have been trying to test long distance accuracy and stuck to plinking.
