So, i got caught up in things and bought a couple of barrels. Both brux M24/40 contour. One is a 6mm and one 6.5mm both can finish at 26 inches (the 6mm could go to 28"). So my question is what would you build assuming you want to try to trade one of the barrels for a 30 cal to build a 308 for f tr. The original idea was 243 and 260. I have the wilson dies for 243 and the neck sizer for both (243 and 260 is the same die just diff bushings). So would you build a 260, 243, 6 creedmore, 6xc, 6slr, 6 or 6.5x47l...? What do you guys think? As for what i will do with it, probably hunt a little (varmint and small fl deer lol), shoot to the longest range i can find which will typically top out around 500 or 600 yards, and hopefully some matches. Sorry if i forgot something but I'm sure yall will let me know. Lol.

8 twist, it'll handle anything out there.

I was thinking that or a 1:7.5

This 6mm Creedmoor sure sounds like a winner...

Thanks for your response!

If you want to go the route of varminting & deer definitely the .243. I have killed a boatload of deer & antelope with mine. On prairie dogs it is the bomb. Literally.

I don't know how much experience you have with the .243 but the Barnes bullets kill way out of proportion to their size.

Maximum effective range for reliable kills on deer is about 300 - 350 yards. For targets 500 - 600 yards is very doable. The Nosler BT's make a very good varmint/target bullet.

What is the major difference between the creedmores and the 243/260s? I think their case capacities are very similar and velocities are comparable. Is there a major difference in barrel life or does there seem to be an inherent accuracy to the case design... like the 6br? Just find myself wondering why reinvent the wheel?

imho .243,You already have the dies and for 500-600 yards it isn't giving up anything to any of the other 6mm. No fire forming or single source brass. Only real down side is that its not a new cool design and about everyone has a .243.
