Any .22mag semi autos good for use with suppressors? The only few I find I dont see how your could thread the barrel unless someone makes an extended one. I wish the Ruger Mark III was made in a .22Mag or .17HM. Thanks for any suggestions. Thanks PG

you would get the sonic crack with the 22 mag so what would be the point? you need the velocities of the 22lr

I think rustydog is spot on.

Frankly I've never had the urge to have a 22 mag. What can a 22 lr do? it's cheap, accurate, quiet, pokes little holes, drops like a rock after 50y, and can be suppressed.

Dunno, I'd rather have a 9mm I suppose.

Its interesting, i cant imagine it would be any louder than a 22lr with standard velocity. My guess is, the sound supression would be the same. Now the hard part, platform. There are only a handfull of semi auto pistols chambered in .22wmr. Almost all of them have problems because of the case expansion. Oddly enough, the most reliable is the Kel-tec from what I have read.

I do, respectfully disagree with miles2go. I am a big fan of the .22wmr. I find it a little flatter and with better results, far better results, on small game. Plus I think there is typically a greater quality in ammunition with the WMR resulting in greater accuracy. Personally, my ruger single six is on my must have list. I love that thing, especially with the 22 mag cylinder.

Never supressed one, but I wonder if it would work out.

I read somewhere that the 22 mag needs 9-12" of barrel to burn its charge, so I imagine a can on an auto 22 wmr handgun would be like a 22lr with better bullets and twice the grime.

I have one in a 18" Bullberry contender carbine barrel that is the only accurate 22wmr I have owned out of six. I also have a single six with the two cylinders, I'd really like to shoot them through a chrono, its a 6" SS. But I expect the velocity would stay pretty close.
Sold an AMT 22 mag automag some years back. It was cool, but jammomatic and a fireball that was impressive.

drifter thank you I didnt think about the powder not burning and mucking up the can. I shoot .22Mag and .17HMR with suppressors all the time and really like it. Yes they have the sonic crack so very quiet it isnt but its good enough for me to enjoy it. I actually prefer shooting full power ammo with all my set ups and think the cans mostly AWC are most impressive in that type of use. One of my favorites is a 22-250 with my AWC THOR Ti raider its an amazing flat shooting and accurate combo. PG
