If a car is “designed”, not “setup” to a very particular style, a la Max whose preference is oversteer, you’re only going to get so much setup that can be tweaked. The understeer preferring number 2 can’t dial in what isn’t there. Danny and Lando were setup like that. Shumacher loved a pointy front end, and Ferrari designed that into the car.
Some drivers can adapt, others can’t. Sainz is a phenomenal driver, but the Ferrari is LeClerc’s for now. When the car was neutral or to his preference he beat Charles evenly early on this year.
