Any input on 338 Edge

Re: Any input on 338 Edge

I have an Edge built by Shawn Carlock. It is an awesome cartridge that is easy to load and is a blast to shoot. I've shot targets out to a mile with it and have knocked over steel silohette targets at 600 yards with it. It's just an all around great round!

I've never had an issue with Remington brass, it may not last as long as Lapua, but it's a lot, and I mean a lot less. Nosler is now making brass for 300 RUM, which a friend of mine is have great results with in his Edge. I've gotten 5 to 6 loadings with my Remington brass.

If you liked your 300 RUM, then you'll love the 338 Edge!

My twist rate is 1-10.

I've shot out to a mile with mine. Accuracy is still excellent, although I've never put it on paper at a mile, I just know I kept hitting the stack of tires I was shooting at. They make nice little black chunk sprays when hit with a .338!

Re: Any input on 338 Edge

You will Love It, I picked mine up from oneshot976 about 2yrs ago. Sometimes I think about getting a 338L and then I look in the safe and say WHY.

Re: Any input on 338 Edge

just built my buddy an EDGE on a stiller predator, 1-10 rock 6-groove and choate varmint stock. converted to single shot so no issues with oal. shoots the 300mk very well with 92gr of retumbo or h-1000. the retumbo is more consistent. we shot 8 groups at 550yds the other day and the worst were 3". most were closer to 2" and the best was 1.5". velocity with the h-1000 is 2825 and retumbo is 2875 out of a 27" tube. the brass does suck and its hard to find but it will do anything the 338Lapua will CHEAPER. brass is on its 9th load but there is definite bolt click now so i think the brass has been overworked. the primer pockets are loose after the first firing but dont get any worse it seems. i am going to build myself one soon but if will have a BRAKE!

Re: Any input on 338 Edge

Thanks again guys for all your help, and keep all the good info coming. If there is one thing I've learned over the years its no matter what a fella knows about something wether it be bowhunting, shooting, reloading,or just sharpening a knife you better listen to anybody that has something to say on the matter, because they may have been doing it as long or longer than you,and may have a trick you have not heard yet.
