Really simple solution here....make it legal, but not a dime of public support funds. I am not much of a fan of telling people what they can and cant do......within reason. As long as no one is geting hurt...including the taxpayer, i dont give a fuck. But if someone is getting hurt, or the taxpayers are being fleeced, then, yeah, i can see the resistance.
But to play devil’s advocate....how is this much different from the ghetto rats playing the same game?

My wife watches that show from time to time. All they do is sit around and talk about their living arrangements and he wants to build a mansion to house them all. Little to no talk about how they earn a living, especially him. I asked her if she realized that just watching their show allows them to make money so they can build a mansion to play in while she works every day so they can.

I was married once. Like @myronman3, I cannot imagine having more than 1. There are women that make being married a joy and make it pretty dang easy. I still believe that and still believe I might find me one.....
Of course if you have the option to leave and go sleep with another if the first one is uptight and bitchy, perhaps that works out? At least on an "avoid the bitch" and get some plan. Not sure how one deals with that emotionally?
Personally, I like the idea of one man and one woman. I also endorse the idea of waiting until marriage for sex (not saying I have done a good job practicing this, just understand why and can see it's benefits).
I am also very much a live and let live guy. Issues come when their life becomes my problem or financial responsibility.
I have also heard many stories as already shared about how these 'wives' collect pretty sizable welfare checks and dad doesn't really provide for his kids. In this case, I am 100% against it. Of course, I hate supporting all the folks who keep having a pile of kids and can't take care of them, I dont care about their religion or race. So many (and yes I have seen it so much between volunteering for years in the school system before having a kid of my own and my work in an inner city ED for 10 years) dont seem to really want to parent. Just feed em some nuggets and Mac n cheese and turn on the TV....

The does have to be something said for the gals having come competition in the house.....if they aint behaving, one of the others gets the attention. I am ultra conservative in my personal beliefs and how I raise my kids. As for government they need to stay out of everthing other than making roads and the Military. People have been trying to legislate morals for centuries. It don't work, secular humanism which is what most people practice says "your truth is your truth and my truth is my truth." That is no way to legislate. If my truth says your truth is a lie well that makes someone unhappy. Man has always had an issue with self governance which is why we have over governance from the politicians.

We can all argue against the practice of polygamy based on religious grounds. The Judeo-Christian ethic as well as some other religions teaches a monogamous marriage between one man and one woman. It's true that God permitted polygamous marriages in the old testament but that didn't mean he was saying it was the ideal.
The Muslims permit polygamous marriages but only allowing the husband to have more than one wife.
I'm against it because of my Christian beliefs but those arguments will fall on deaf ears in a secular culture.
The number one argument against polygamy should be to protect children that are produced in those marriages. And if I could go back to the Bible as an argument against polygamy just look at the dysfunctional families of Abraham, Jacob and David.
The sibling rivalries between the children of different mothers apexed at a level that we could not imagine today. I imagine that those rivalries in today's settings could be worse than those of several thousand years ago.
It's true that there are sibling rivalries in monogamous families but when several mothers are pitted against each other and producing an army of children just like them it could be the material that soap opera writers dream of.

Since homosexual marriage is the law of the land and everybody has pretty much accepted it as done and dusted, I don't see why the government has any business telling anyone who they can or can't be together with. If consenting people of legal age or legal with court approval age wish to form a "family unit" based on their own personal preferences, I don't see what business others have in telling them they can't.
If you want to be in a unit with several other parties at once, well that's your choice and like it or not, that's freedom.
Others don't have to like it, or even agree with it, but it should be your choice.
BUT just remember, freedom also is that people don't have to like it, don't have to think it's right.
Sorry but I'm going to call that out as invalid, that kind of "for the children" argument is what usually makes me go the exact opposite way when someone resorts to that
How many families have you been around that had more than one mother (at the same time)?
I've been around several of the more traditional type of multiple marriages as in one man, more than one woman, over the years and never saw any problem between the kids that was any different than anybody else, generally speaking the kids all got along well. Pretty much no different than the average divorced and remarried scenario that is widely common and accepted today. Actually most of the time the mothers were rather happy to be nice to the other mother's children as nobody wants to be the bitchy one that the other two don't like.
The problems mentioned from 5000 years ago in the records occurred mostly because of tribal laws, when life was tough, resources were scarce and the "heir" got everything and got to be king and everybody else well got nothing. That is not the case these days, and hasn't been for several hundred years. Generally all the siblings have a fair shot and being equally successful. Some countries even have gone as far as saying that one's inheritance must be split equally among all the children to avoid issues coming up.
Single mothers can have all the kids they want, homosexual couples are free to have and adopt children.
People have multiple wives and husbands all the time, they just do it in series instead of parallel and you have kids from the first marriage, kids from the second marriage etc.
It's funny how folks cling to religious things on stuff that is really inconsequential while the rest of the rug is being swept out from under them.
Unless we want to have a religious based government with fully religious based laws.... which you WON'T like as it will mean no sex outside of marriage, no divorce, sex is for procreation only, no porn, no revealing clothes etc... Then you'll need to agree there is this thing called freedom and people can do as they please.
The issue should be that instead of forcing everyone to like, love and worship every strange twist like the perverted SJWs do, you simply say people are free, and are free to do as they wish with their lives, and you are under NO obligation to like it, agree with it, or say it's right, you are just under an obligation to respect everyone's civil liberties and not discriminate against people in public / business settings.

As a single man in my early twenties, I practiced, practiced, practiced polygamy, but just couldn't get the hang of it. My "failure" wasn't for lack of trying though.........
