While eventually id like to get into a MDT or similar quality chassis with all the options, I found a good deal on a barreled action which was exactly what im looking for and wanted to spend the money on glass instead for now. Id be doing the long action setup for 300 win, but looking at all the reviews, none have really compared them to a factory stock or HS Precision/McMillan setup that generally comes on higher end Remington rifles. While I cant find anyone really disappointed, I cant seem to find anyone raving about it and commenting on consistency or overall feel either.

Anyone used one of these and then switched to a more expensive setup, or switched from a quality fiberglass stock and noticed a difference either way?

IMO the HS stocks are better ergonomically, and stiffer. That said the magpul does have some advantages like being able to put side QD points on the forend more easily if you're not handy with a drill and marine-tex (although the MP flexes like a mono using a sling), and being more economical as far as adding a detachable bottom metal.

Personally I'd go with a MPA lite chassis. At $700 for a non folding version its more than twice the money of a magpul with the bottom metal but it's 10x the stock, and also superior to the MDT. You won't be disappointed.

I like the MDT, but they need to get the weight right on the lite chassis. When I called, the weight on the website was off by over 1lb.
