Rifle Scopes Anyone else get the Steiner 3-12x56 FFP Mil/Mil scope on Special from Botach?

27 MOA is 7.8 mils, so you should be okay.
Steiner lists the 3-12x50 as having 19.5 mils of elevation adjustment buy my guess is that's restricted by the double turn knob and there is more travel than that in the erector assembly.

Joe

Somewhere I saw a spec sheet indicating 30 or more mils of total elevation travel available, and then the 19.5 that you can use once zeroed. It would be very strange if a 12x scope with a 34mm tube had only 19.5 mils of total elevation travel, and the 19.5 stop wouldn't make sense if that maximum travel was only 19.5, since most rifles would end up stopping at less than 19.5 one zeroed.

Sounds about right.

Yes there is a limit of 19.5 mils in the turret itself because it is limited to 2 rotations. There is quite a bit more overall elevation travel in the scope itself. With 27 MOA built in you will be good to go and will most likely still have the full 19.5 mils in the turret not that you will need it most likely.

Sweet, thanks for all the responses!

Nice, my ADM mount is on the way. Pics to follow.. you guys are awesome!

Which version of the ADM are you getting? I have the QD ADM-Recon which is offset and could be switched from bolt to Ar's in seconds. I usually keep the zero on my bolt and zero the AR and remember the settings for both Elev/Wind, so when i place it on my bolt I turn everything to Zero and game on.

Botach never offered the 3-12x56mm Steiner for $1100. It was the 3-12x50. I ordered ten of them and received them in a timely manner (btw, they include a sunshade and Butler Creek caps). They're new, sealed in the package (not seconds). I kept one and sold what I could to buddies for the same $1100 I paid (can't make money on my friends). Had 4 left over, so I sold one here. Still have 3 new and sealed that are unclaimed.

I got a 56 for$1100. There were only a handful and they pulled the item page.

thats a pretty good. I thought i had a deal with the 10x binos plus scope for $1700. traded the binos for a new 10x super sniper and badger 34mm mount from swfa. which makes it $1200 for the scope only. still wasn't worth the headache at the time, but the headache has been long gone.

Any chance you may want to sell one ,and if so how much ?

I did what you did and got the club membership to save a cool $120. I ordered mine yesterday and only got an order confirmation. I will say this though, the site says they are sold out after I made the purchase. Fingers are crossed.

I just got a shipping notice for the rings that I ordered alongside the scope. Said that they shipped yesterday evening. It also says that the scope should ship sometime today. I'm guessing if it all goes through I'll have it in my grubby little paws on Friday.

Much of my decision to purchase was based off of Rex's review:

Steiner 3-12x56 Military Tactical Scope - TOP PICK! - Rex Reviews - YouTube

My 3-12X56 arrived today. First impression was that it looked like a sewer pipe atop my Savage .308. I remember being wowed when I bought my first 30mm scope. This thing is insane. I was afraid that the medium Warne rings that I bought wouldn't allow enough clearance between the front Butler Creek and the barrel but there's still 1/8" to go there.

Turrets are huge and have nice positive clicks. Not overly tight or loud, but just about right. I really dig the second revolution indicator "teet". Parallax ring moves freely, much better than other scopes I've had. Zoom ring is somewhat stiff but may loosen up with some use. I like the rubber cover it has. I'm glad Steiner did the illumination dial like they did. I really like the off positions between each setting. In the shade I could use the illumination but it wasn't visible in the sun (not sure who would need it then). I'm guessing that that huge objective and many levels of illumination will be the bomb in reduced light.

Glass quality is now the best that I own. I think that the G2 mil-dot reticle will work just fine for me. Can't wait to get it completly tightened up on the rifle and send some rounds down range.
