Re: Anyone else hate Nicholas Cage?

the only movie i ever liked of his was leaving las vegas, and that had everything to do with elizabeth shue and nothing to do with him.

you don't have to be a great actor to pretend to be drunk and want to sleep with her.

Completely agree. This was the only movie he's ever done I liked.

Nic Cage is a god. How dare any of you!

Re: Anyone else hate Nicholas Cage?

Adaptation was very good, but not what you'd call an action movie. Bird was good and was one of his first movies I believe. I don't recall the name, but the David Lynch movie where he loved Elvis was very good as well.

Re: Anyone else hate Nicholas Cage?

Hate is a strong word, but I do dislike Cage.

I dislike him for the simple reason that he is an absolutely fucking horrible actor, and the only reason he is as rich and successful as he is, is because he is Francis Ford Coppolas nephew, and his uncle got him in the door and most of his original gigs.

If he had been anybody else, he never would have been hired to act in anything and would be pumping gas right now, because he just flat out sucks at acting. But since his uncle is a rich and powerful hollywood big wig, he gets dozens of gigs from the get go handed to him because of his uncle and becomes rich.

OK, <span style="font-style: italic">was</span> rich. lol

Actually though, that doesn't necessarily say anything to his level of wealth. I know of at least 2 people (probably more that haven't talked about it) that I would consider quite rich that allowed houses of theirs to be forclosed on for the simple fact that the mortgage amount they took out on it is 2-3 times more than the house is currently worth, or will ever be worth again.

The US housing market was so overinflated for so long, that many people (especially weathy people that paid a lot for their big homes during the time of the overinflation of the market) are choosing to just allow their houses to be forclosed on, because it makes far more sense than to keep paying on that $500K loan, even though that house will likely never be worth more than $200k again, now that the market has fallen and will continue to fall down to realistic "real" values.

That's a good point. He may have just walked away from it and a lot of people do these days. Maybe he's smarter than he looks/acts.

Re: Anyone else hate Nicholas Cage?

The thing about Nick Cage is that he plays the same character in every movie. If your writing a screen play and think that this character is a lot like Nick Cage then he will be a perfect fit. But if your looking for a performance different in any way from the last ten movies he has been in then you have selected the wrong actor. Lord of War however was a great movie the story out shined the crappy acting.

next was the only one you didn't care for?

that means you liked the following movies:
drive angry
season of the witch
knowing
bangkok dangerous
ghost rider
wicker man

reminds me of the last spoof in that youtube clip.

Re: Anyone else hate Nicholas Cage?

Hell, I loved the National Treasure movies. Watch them with my
kids again and again. Gone in 60 was good. Even liked Sorcerers
Apprentice. But that leaves a whole lot of his movies that I
don't really care for. There are other actors that I simply
will not watch because of their pol. views. Sometimes its
better for them to STFU and never say anything in public

Otherwise, they're gona lose fans

Re: Anyone else hate Nicholas Cage?

I thought he was a hoot in Raising Arizona. Loved it when Randal "Tex" Cobb beat the shit out of him before he blew up
grin.gif

I've never seen him in anything else, don't get to the movies too often.

Re: Anyone else hate Nicholas Cage?

I gotta say that Raising Arizonia was the only movie of his that I thought was interesting and a good fit.

All of his other lead roles were because of name recognition.

HE start is going to darken as his age is going to get him and he can't transition like Harrison Ford or George Clooney as he has no acting skills to fall back on.

Re: Anyone else hate Nicholas Cage?

"Anyone else hate Nicholas Cage?"

Here I am thinking I was the only one. My favorite movie with Nicholas Cage is Wickerman, because he is burned alive at the end.

Re: Anyone else hate Nicholas Cage?

His voice and attempt at acting in "Peggy Sue Got Married" forever sealed his fate with me. He's lumped in with Bill Paxton, Bill Pullman and Tom Cruise on my ignore list.

I agree. I see no Cage, Tom Cruise or Sean Penn movie. Not a fan of Leo either

Re: Anyone else hate Nicholas Cage?

Lord of War was ok but I really can't stand him. One night at the station someone put on Bad Lt. and it made me remember what a dip shit of an actor he is. I think they've all pretty well lost their minds.

Dude, Bill Paxton is AWESOME!

How could you not love him as the car salesman in True Lies? Or as Chet in Weird Science? Or as Hudson in Aliens?

As for Cage, he was good in The Rock. He's mostly just weird, all the time.

Re: Anyone else hate Nicholas Cage?

Nicholas Cage is one of the worst actors in Hollywood. He makes good movies, but is a horrible actor.

The matrix series was a good series and I really enjoyed the movies. Is Keanu Reeves a good actor... NO Chance.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: CopperMach</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Did you hear about the movie Nicholas Cage turned down?

Neither has he... </div></div>

lol, thought he was good in the rock. But then he was playing against Sean Connery, who helped a lot.

Re: Anyone else hate Nicholas Cage?

Am I the only one that liked the one with him called The Rock? Granted, he had some great actors supporting(i.e. Ed Harris, Sean Connery), but he played the annoying techy-agent ok. I don't know, the story of this may have been a bit farfetched, but the ideas promoted are plausible. SF guys that have lost comrades in combat trying to wake the world up a bit. Watch it if you haven't seen it! Some bad one-liners, but some good drama too.

On the other hand, most the time he bugs the crap out of me. Has done some pretty horrible movies. No acting chops. Still made out wiht Jessica Beil. NOT COOL!

Re: Anyone else hate Nicholas Cage?

can't stand him, never could.

now i like the movies that he is in, and the roles that he tries to play, but just not nicholas cage playing those parts.

it's sort of like watching Keanu "or however th F you spell it Reeves - under dramatic when you need drama, over dramatic when it's not neccessary.

the wife loves him though. more proof i married a moron.

then again, we know his name, i doubt he knows any of ours.
