Yeah, unless youre shooting pistol or pellet guns, 50 yards is hardly worth leaving the house for. I've heard rumors of a 300yd range somewhere in the Greenwich area. Don't know if there's anything to it, but if there is, I'll bet it's expensive.

Hi guys, let me know the next time you go to the range. Just got an aiaw .308 i would love to try long range. Bought it because a friend has a large piece of land real close by and could get out to 300yrds. Just got it zeroed in at 100yrs last sunday, my first outing with it. Police shut us down the next day. don't think we will be able to shoot there any more. I am pissed to say the least. Any way, would love to try some long range. never shot out past 100 or so. I could surely use some pointers from you guys. thanks

Hi Rob I am near the new haven area. Had a great spot to shoot, me and a few other guys, i think we are done shooting there at least for a little while. might have to get some suppressors!! Where are you located Rob?

Up in the Groton area. Got a 400 yard range at Ledyard Sportsman's Club. No need for suppressors but they are nice to have.

Rob,
Always a hood time shooting with you. Stopped in to see Rob at CTF&T on the way home. He really has some great prices on ammo.
(I had to replace the stuff I used today). He tried to sell me a Barrett 98-Bravo.LOL

Glad youre going to make it. I have a feeling it's going to be very educational, and a lot of fun. Let me know if you want to car-pool to save some $. I'll probably go up the night before and come back either Thursday night or Friday morning.

I am new to the forums, but not CT! I am patiently awaiting on my Remington 700 with AWC silencer to come in, then i will need a place to shoot beyond 100 YDS.... I am a member at Windsor Marksmans Association, with a 100 YD range...If only Blue Trail would reopen the 200 YD range, then i would head there....

From one Matt to another, welcome to the forum! Ct is definiely lacking in the "long range" category.
Check out the thread "NE Tactical shooting skills class at PEMI, NH".
The class was a great time. Hopefully they're be another one soon. Lots of room to "stretch the legs", and also learned some drills you can practice at 100yds to keep from getting bored. PEMI is a bit of a haul, but well worth it.
Also, I think theres a club in Bristol that has almost 300yds, but I don't know about the membership.
Might want to send BigBrother a PM and sign up on the N.E. Tactical Group on Yahoo. I'm sure there'll be some more "outings" in the near future.

Rob, from what i heard, Ledyard has some issues with the rifle range, and it was possibly shutdown? i hope not....

It was for about a year but opened up again last year after some modifications. I can assure you it's open now. I have been a member there for about 12 years now.

Jeez, missed this. New here. I THINK I know Mountain Man from another forum a long time ago.

Raised in Orange, live in W. Hartford, member at Metacon.

Joined here because I'm getting into the precision rifle over the M4 for my casual shooting. My Lord, the info here. I read for hours.

I use a LT 16" OBR and a EDM SS-97 .408. Sold my AIAWM .338 and bought an EDM barrel/bolt in .338 yesterday for the SS-97.

Just want to get a 7.62 bolt gun and after reading here, looks like a Tac Ops Tango 51 but I'm still thinking.

Anyway, this is a stupidly expensive hobby but it keeps me out of bars.

Welcome aboard! Sounds like you've got some pretty fine taste in rifles!
I just started getting into precision rifle myself back in February.
Like you I've benn doing a lot of reading and learning (and shopping LOL) here on the forum. Beware the "for sale" section.
It's just way to easy to spend $ on gear.
What do they have for yardage at Metacon?

Metacon has unfortunately only 100 yds. There were plans for a 500 yd range as the club has the land. Those plans were delayed by a civil lawsuit by the club's neighbors. While the club won the suit convincingly, we expended hundreds of thousands of dollars. The range was put on hold while finances recover. We are still hopeful that it will become a reality.

And yes, the EE here is the most dangerous place on the Net.

500 yds would be great! Too bad the club has a bunch of pain-in-the-ass neighbors. You know how happy I would be if a club near me wanted to open up a 500yd range?
I guess that's the problem with Ct: not enough people like us.

I was up at Blue Trail last Sunday. Haven't been there in forever. Another "Hide shoot" sounds good to me. Hopefully my Viper PST gets here soon. I'm getting antsy.
Let me know when you want to meet up. I plan on doing as much shooting as possible this summer.

Just finished up a big job at work and will be doing some fill in stuff for the next 2 weeks. I can take off pretty much any day this week or next week if anyone wants to meet up and do some shooting. Send me a PM if you're interested.

I am up for an outing with my AR50. I would love to see what it's like past 100 yards. A direct hit on a steel plate at let's say 400 yards or more would make me very happy! I am simple to please!

Hello CT shooters, new shooter here looking to get some range time in with some guys that know what they are doing. I was speaking with Matt (Semour Gunz) a littleand he dirrected me here. You all got any range time coming up. I would love to see that 400 yard range in Ledyard, actually lived in Ledyard for my first 3 and a half years.

New guy checking in. I usually shoot at either High Rock, or Blue Trails. I'd love to check out that range in Ledyard some day. It's been a while, but I've talked to Rob over on another site a few times.

Welcome to the Hide! I live about 10 minutes from High Rock and shoot there pretty regularly. I have my membership application in, but I'm still on the waiting list.
Let me know if you ever want to meet up and do some shooting, or if Rob can arrange a range day up in Ledyard, we can carpool.
