bought some 155 palmas from another member here and just want to get an idea of what other guys are using. will be shooting 550-900 yards.

stick:
rem 700 aac
.308 20" 1-10

components:
fed brass
cci 200

powder choices:
1. imr-4064 (have 24lbs prefer to use this powder)
2. blc-2
3. tac
4. h335
5. r-15
6. varget (very limited quantity)

if you could include any ballistic data you might have that would be much appreciated.

46.0g R15; Win Brass; Win Primer.

I found this load early on and have looked no further.

Also had good luck with BLC2 at 47.0gr. The 155s like to go fast. Start low and work up to make sure these are safe in your rifle.

If you're using thick brass like Lapua, 45.5-46.0 Varget or R15 will probably be the sweet spot.

- 2 of my GAP 308s with match chambers showed more pressure sign than I cared for above 45.7gr Varget.
- Tikka Scout 20" shot 46.0gr Varget crazy accurate but at the edge of hot for that gun. Load length was like 2.830" due to short OEM mag length. During warm up at 700 yards, my buddies had to stop to confirm I was shooting an $800 rifle
- Sako TRG22 20" was awesome with 46.5gr Varget. Load lrngth was 2.850". The large & long TRG chamber helped allow going that hot as it's way too hot for the other guns.

You probably already know don't waste your time trying to load to lands. The bullet is aggressively contoured and you'll never reach it. The fastest you will probably get out of that 20" 1:10 is ~2825fps. This will make the 850+ range tough if you have any wind, but you will own anything closer.

I would definitely start lower at like 44.5gr Varget and work up.

Sierra load manual 39.1 min and max of 45.5 for IMR-4064. coal of 2.775. I went a little over max and a coal of 2.82 and no pressure signs. I got 8 reloads out of the winchester brass before the primer pockets got loose.

Most of the Palma guys will shoot the 155's from 46-47gr of Varget. My load is 47.5gr with the 2155's but mine are molly coated. So long as you are coming out at 2950fps you will be ok at 1000yds.

07 LC-LR
