Gunsmithing Anyone have or use a Mark Chanlynn barrel

Does anyone have or heard of Mark Chanlynn barrels I have one coming but this is my first custom barrel and I'm new to all this custom stuff on a rifle I've been told go with a 7rum or a 7saum but from what I have read on here I maybe changing my mind on the caliber I go with the barrel will be a .284 and a 1-8 twist going on a stock remington sendora I will be putting a Jewell trigger in it other than that I have no clue what needs to be done to it want to shoot over 1000yrds and be able to hunt with it

Pretty much any big game in North America I live in Oklahoma but my sister lives in Alaska and would like to go up there some time but manaly deer

I have heard of whitetail, blacktail, mule deer, but never a manaly deer. LOL. Enjoy Alaska, was there 5 years, got 2 Caribou while there and lots of red salmon.

Mr. Chanlynn is the president of the U.S. shooting team and builds the rifles for them. I have a good friend that has several rifles made by him with his barrels. Everyone is a tack driver. Rest easy if you smith knows what he is doing, you will have a first rate rifle.

I live in OK too around the Tulsa area. Animals 'round these parts are small. For anything up to Elk I'd be comfortable with a 6mm as a minimum and everything above that added "padding" for shot error and increased angle shots on larger animals. For white tail nearly any legal caliber with a proper bullet will suffice. If I was having a new barrel made I'd be looking at a .260 REM but that's just me and what I want.

I have a couple rifles built by Mark. They are absolute hammers. Mark is getting the call soon to build me a pre war model 70 USMC sniper.

Making them. Plus side, he is 15 minutes away. I would use his barrels if he were 1500 miles

For you guys that have used his barrels, any preference or better results with either CM or SS or doesn't matter? I've been really interested in buying one of his barrels lately.

Sounds like you have a mag bolt face so I would have it chamber for a 7mm rem mag. Good shooter ammo and reloading components everywhere, if it is a standard bolt face I would chamber it for 280 AI Nosler makes brass and loaded ammo for this and it doesn't miss 7mm rem mag by much. Sounds like barrel is good to go. JMHO?

He put together an upper for my first AR about 10-12 years ago. I recently had the barrel bore scoped at 3,300 rounds and the report is that it's in excellent condition, with a little wear to the beginning of the rifling. Assuming I do my job with good loads, it's still keeping to 1/3 MOA.
