The reason I'm asking is i want to shoot 80 gr ammo to get 100 yards and the stock barrel will not stabilize that weight ammo.

thanks,

Only ones with adjustable mono-pods that I know are AICS. Buy the stock and add the mono-pod. The stock is heavy - not sure you would want to pay for flutes on the barrel if you get a stock that heavy.

Get a straight 8 or a fractional 7 and rock-on. 22" should be plenty of length for that small case, and GAP can do a heck of a 1000-yard .223 bolt gun. I agree with Mike - put it in a Manners, maybe a T5A. Give George a call.

The gun has a 20" bull barrel and a Hogue stock on it now and weighs 13 pounds with optics. I'm not as worried about the weight of the gun but more about the accuracy. I'm shooting good groups at less than 400 yds with the 62 grain ammo, but i want to reach out to at least 1000 yds.

Any custom tube chambered by somebody competent will almost certainly be more "accurate" than a factory tube.

What you likely really want is to stay above transonic velocities out to 1000. Play with ballistic programs and find out how fast you need to launch the bullet you plan on using to get it to 1000 at sufficient velocity -- then choose barrel length accordingly (based on velocity info you get from other folks).

If you aren't worried about weight, why flute? You're just spending extra money to make your barrel less stiff.

Throat it so you can get them to the lands from the magazine. The difference is worth it for a .223 at 1000.
