Socialism promises everything and delivers almost nothing The only reason it works in Norway to any degree is that they have huge off shore oil reserves and the government has hundreds of billions of dollars in their sovereign fund. They still tax everyone to death and restrict every aspect of life.

While socialism is great for peasants and the mentally challenged, it is not great for people who like to own guns, speak their minds and earn their way thru life.

The example of Norway is like making decisions based on what you see in the tails of a bell curve.

Those advocating for abolishing the electoral college are enemies of the constitution. It really is that simple. Most of the folks here swore oaths to protect it. I would truly hate for things to go that far south as I have no desire to harm anyone. Unfortunately, this country is undeniably headed in that direction. I love my country and my oath means more to me than the communists could possibly imagine. If they push things to the breaking point and test my oath, then so be it.

Most people understand that the EC was established to prevent that very thing, so that a few areas with a high population density would not be making the choices for the rest of the country. The Demokrats want to dissolve the EC because, I believe, those five counties are all blue.

The power was supposed to be invested in the states.

EC ensured the states would be the primary focus for federal elections.

It was realized early that popular vote would be decided by the results in a few population centers and either the one populous state or a collection of cities would be the only focus for anyone running.

Smaller states would have no voice.

You are correct and if you read my statement that I advocate for popular vote - democracy rather than Republic - that is not what I meant.

I just dont know where the FF came up with the idea. Can anyone name a similar example in history?

I wish our side had the balls to educate people and say "You know what? The EC is such a great idea lets expand it to the states elections. Maybe the people of every county outside of Cook in Illinois will than have a say on how their state is run".
