I'd like to build a fun rimfire compact rifle to match my AI and I think the FVSR and the AICS would make for a kickass combo. I've seen a couple of conversion threads but I neither have the requisite skills or tools to do the conversion myself and I was wondering if anyone was selling a pre-cut drop in kit from the G96 stock. I've seen something similar on a australian gun board but he's selling his own version without the folding stock.

I was just about to post a similar question. Recently somewhere on this site I seen pics of rimfires in aics type stocks, there was a link to the maker of the stocks. I have spent this afternoon searching for that link or manufacturers name but just can't seem to find it. I think the stocks were laminate and looked like the AI. Anyone know the link or name of the stock? Want to get one for my savage as well. Thanks

as far a i know there are no pre made ready to go ones. i have a 96 that i have a CZ in, and thinking about going to a tacticool to match up to my choate stocked remington, and will have a 96 stock that will be needing a new home.

i have a mkii, if you are interested, i'll take out the cz and drop in the mkii and see where things line up, if there is some work that needs to be done i'll do it if you are interested in it for like 50.00. it's a folder model.

let me know

edit:

going from cz to mkii shouldn't pose a problem, the only difference (maybe) is where the bolt handle comes out of the receiver...an extra groove may have to be cut into the aluminum block and plastic skin to allow it to operate. obviously that would leave a groove that nothing is present in, and may actually not look that good - but i will have to drop the mkii in it to see

the other thing would be the "pillars" it would most likely be the new owner's preference on that as the higher or lower the piller, the more the action and barrel will sit above or below the stock. an eye of the beholder kind of thing. that'll also be how long the action screw should be. i think i have some extra pieces of that tubing laying around, i'll see what i can do using "my eye". but it would be no big deal to get the pillars if you don't like the height, it's just aluminum tubing.

i have a brake job to do on my truck today, and a couple other things to take care of this week, but will do the mkii thing during the chaos so it may be a few days to see how things match up.
