This is my 4th AR-10 ( LR 308 ) build and I am looking to replace the handguard on my last build. In a hurry to complete it I used a Wilson Combat handguard and I am not impressed. I guess you get what you pay for pops into mind. Never the less I need to replace it. The last build I used a SLR SOLO series handguard and it is a superb unit. Not wanting to shuck out another 350 bucks I am looking at the Juggernaut AR-10 handguard and wondered if anyone had any experience with them or know someone who has. I just don't want another hand guard that sounds like a church bell when you release the bolt. I am afraid I will have to step up to the pump and go with the SLR again. The gun I am messing with is a 18 inch 6.5 Creedmoor with a Rainier Arms ultra match barrel. Very accurate so I can't complain there but the handguard is subpar at best.
The Wilson Combat handguard has the 6 screws fastening the structure to the barrel nut. That required a lot of test fitting and shims to time it properly. The end result left a rather large gap between the two rail sections. This is unacceptable and just cheap looking. Not to mention that a annoying ping when you release the bolt. The WC handguard is a complete fail. I wanted to elaborate on the quality of the this product so anyone thinking of buying this piece will not do it. It's garbage all the way around. I use their 1911 parts which are excellent but there rifle parts are just severely lacking in fit and finish. Just stay away from WC all together for your rifle needs.
Back to the OP any help about the Juggernaut handguard would be helpful. I am trying to narrow down the selection one at a time. I am exhausting all my options before I lay down another 350 bucks plus shipping, taxes and bla, bla, bla.
Thank you
Greg
