Long story short I inherited some armalite ar10 series B receivers and am hitting a dead end with finding a "B" bolt catch and magazine release. They are the last 2 things I need to finish this build. I have contacted armalite for help locating anything and they won't return my calls or emails. Any ideas of where I can find these?

This is what happens when the name of a company gets sold to another company with zero relation to the original and then they reverse engineer an inexact copy of a previous product and keep that design proprietary.

I would sell what you have to other Armalite owners who can't find what they need and turn that in to an LR308 pattern rifle which has multiple sources for every piece (as far as I can tell).

Appreciate the input, you're right dpms pattern parts are everywhere and I've built 5 or 6 lr-308s with no issues... I'm just not ready to scrap this armalite build over 2 small parts quite yet.

Call them, they aren’t doing too well updating their website. Many parts are in stock or so I have been told by many. I’m glad that I stocked up on parts when I did, the sell to SAC doesn’t appear to be a good one so far.

Update: I got a call back from someone at sac saying they were working on machining some more bolt stops. His best guess was that they would be available in 40-45 days. Well see

I didn't even know Armalite got sold again.

I was referring to the first time when Eagle bought the name from Fairchild or whoever owned it last.

I knew a few years ago that they redesigned the "AR10" to be more compatible with some LR308 parts which just made the compatibility situation more confusing.

The worst part is that I've heard the Armalite "AR10" is pretty nice.

What could have happened if they let people copy their design like DPMS did? The LR308 might have never happened and the "AR10" might be as standardized as the AR15.

Instead we have a mess.

I dont see it as being a mess other then SAC doesnt appear to run the company like those it has acquired. Its not hard to know what you are buying for, i see it as no different then buying parts for my sigs. Yes some parts interchange but not all. Its all over the net what parts are interchangeable and what aren't. It would be nice if the. 308 AR game was like its little brother but we all know thats not going to happen so move on from that. Know what you have a buy accordingly and life will be good...

No, the more people that buy in to proprietary and incompatible "AR10" guns, the worse and more confusing the market becomes.

I don't know what the deal is with Armalite's new ownership but it doesn't sound like they have improved anything and who knows if they will even try?

It’s not buying into anything other then reality, not matter how much the market wants a standard it’s not happening. All of the major players have invested R&D into their systems and they are not going to abandon it because you, me or the next person may want them to. They developed their systems to what they think is the best method to sling those .30 cal bullets. They are not going to give that information to a competitor, period.

Getting parts isn’t confusing to me, I have some aftermarket parts on my Armalites, never once did I order the incorrect parts. I guess if a person can’t figure out what they have or what to order for what they have then they need to check on the net first or leave it up to a gunsmith if they can’t find that info at their finger tips. Again, its not hard.

It’s almost like saying every striker fired plastic frame pistol should be a Glock. S&W, HK, Sig and the likes should make a glock pistol , abandoning their own R&D .making a Glock with their own spin and Glock should allow them to do it.These compaines should discard their R&D and tooling for simplification for the market...Not going to happen.

I’ll agree in a perfect world the AR-10 market would be better if everything was plug and play like it’s little brother but thats not the world we live in no matter how much we want it to be....
