The second generation slimmer MBUS is a good value depending on what you're looking for. Like the A.R.M.S. models they lock in the down position and spring into place. I know they both have followings and testimonials about their functionality in poor environments and I'm not suggesting that they are more susceptible to error.
Mbus, Matech, MI, A.R.M.S., GG&G MAD, Diamond Head are all good flip sights. They're all fairly unique as well, so depending on your needs may suit you better. Everyone has their biases to which are superior in buid quality, design, functionality etc...
I do like other irons and appreciate their different qualities, but I choose Troy as a (save your life) backup sight. Others may be just as dependable but their simplicity and well thought out design for durability sold me for this purpose.
If you take notice of Troy's rear sight you'll see small differences that further enhance them as dedicated back up sights (they're are flip/folding sights that will function better for longer distances); adjustability is not exposed for quick manipulation. I like spring/latch release sights as well, I am just not convinced that it would actually save me time. I feel more comfortable with the sight locking in the upright position and just grabbing the entire piece myself. I know many have gone without a single issue but with my luck this configuration gives me the most confidence. Also, it can only be closed with the close/large aperture in the ready.
Again, I'm not not suggesting that any of the other options are inferior (in any way) it's just what works for me. For sporting purposes I would certainly consider others.
Here's the adjustment wheel on Troy's rear, notice how low profile it is, the protection around it etc... you can manipulate them by hand but they're designed to be adjusted with the tip of a bullet or a coin. The small textured part of the wheel that's exposed is facing down when not deployed, the rest is completely covered.
I think it's mostly a personal thing and dependent on its intended use. Everything that's been listed so far is quality as far as im concerned.
Edit: In the past 2? Years... Troy has improved/updated the finish on all their sights to be more durable as well. This includes the color options as well which I believe are now ceracoated opposed to duracoated if I remember correctly
