Gentlemen,
I have recently purchased a LWRC M6A2 SPR and I have plans to put a can on it. I have read about "gas face" while using a can on a AR style rifle. My first question, is this a real problem when using piston driven weapons or does it happen with both gas and piston guns? Second, has anyone ever heard of a AR gas vent? I was told about this vent and wanted to see if anyone has experience with it?

Thanks in advance.

Re: AR Gas Vent

I have a 10" HK416 upper on a POF lower that gets a AAC M4-2000, and I installed one on it - along with 3 other rifles - and I like it, it does help, but he best bang is the RTV on the charge handle IMHO
Yes it happens on both DI and piston guns.

Re: AR Gas Vent

I run an AR Gas Vent on both of mine along with the PRI Gas buster, the results are great.

Wait just a little and you will have all of the nay sayers chime in about de-activating the FA feature....well if you are truly in the shit (swat, special forces etc) then you would need the forward assist and a little gas in the face would be the least of your worries.

I just don't understand as I have never used an AR in conflict, but have shot AR's for 35 years and have NEVER had to use my FA. Maybe I am just really lucky.

The benefits of the Gas vent outweight the loss of the FA in my book, for recreactional shooting.

Good Luck

Re: AR Gas Vent

Just wait till you get your suppressor and see for yourself, right now even after sending in your forms it's taking about 7 months to get them back. I run a SF 556AR can without the PRI gasbuster and have no problems on a 16" but I'm gonna try it on my 12.5" this week or next and have purchased the gasbuster charging handle for it. From everything that I've read the RTV trick works well but you may or may need to do anything.

Re: AR Gas Vent

Seriously, the AR Gas Vent has to be in the top ten on the grabastic waste of money list. I hope the manufacturer makes bank selling it to anyone who is stupid enough to belly up to the bar.

As for the Gas Buster, it doesn't bust anything. It is a well built charging handle and nothing more. The belief that residual gases in the upper receiver can be vectored is ethereal and violates a number of physical laws.

I love a solid no BS post. Well done.
