AR10 compatibility question...

I called 2 different customer service departments and they were just supremely worthless...

My old as heck DPMS Ar10 does not have in spec picatinny rails on the upper receiver so it can't take unimounts. I want to tag it out with anything that'll work... The 2 companies I hit up won't guarantee that it'll work.

I have a DPMS lower, a JP hanguard/nut/barrel, and I'm pretty sure a DPMS bolt/bcg. Can you guys recommend me an upper that's hot swappable? Wouldn't be opposed to getting a receiver set, but I'd rather not. Thanks

EDIT: Might as well ask this now. I have a KAC dual ejector bolt. Can I throw it into my DPMS BCG safely? AR10 hot swaps make me nervous. Thanks.

Sounds like you just need a DPMS upper. Not sure if high or low profile matters. Post a pick of your lower and maybe somebody will chime in with an upper that will closely match. Aero matched sets can be had for a very reasonable price and wouldn’t rule that option out if your looking for good fit.

Are aero matched sets the go to receiver company for DPMS compatibility?

Not gonna lie, I'm nervous about tagging something out on this rifle because this AR10 actually runs really well. Even something as unstressed as the receiver. Outside of KAC rifles, I've seen pretty much every other AR10 fail (knock on wood) at matches and whatnot.

When bang for the buck is desired I think so. Would DPMS elude to a good fitting upper from them?

As far as reliability goes your small parts would fail before a receiver.

Dpms did not have a very responsive customer service.

I’ll check out the aero stuff.

Do y’all know if I can drop my kac dual ejector bolt into my Bcg safely?

If you have an older DPMS lower chances are it's a higher profile upper so you'll want an upper that is similar to best mate with your lower. For that Aero is your best bet, as I believe their M5 receivers are made similar to DPMS high profile upper. To determine which you have, measure top rail area right where you insert your charging handle. In the older, high profile DPMS upper it should be 3/16". Newer "low" profile DPMS uppers will measure 1/8". You'll find this to be the case in most other DPMS compatible .308 uppers as well.

This difference between the older and newer DPMS .308 is why people sometimes run into compatibility issues even though the parts are marked as DPMS compatible.
