AR15 Accuracy issues

The thing with using random parts is that the gun as a whole usually needs to be somewhat tuned to it's full potential. Recoil/Gas/buffer/springs etc.

If it is functioning optimally and still shooting poorly. I would try a different optic before anything. If it was still shooting poorly I would strip it down and inspect everything. If nothing looked suspicious Then I would probably swap the barrel.

Ballistic Advantage has bern known to make somewhat accurate barrels but they have also been known to turn out some turds. Sounds like maybe you got the latter.

When installing the barrel nut, tighten and loosen it three times. Torque it down on the third time. Also take special care to insure there is no binding between the gas tube and gas key on the bolt carrier. That can wreck accuracy.

There was nothing wrong w the rifle. No loose parts, or bad scope, or brake... just a bad barrel on its way back to the manufacturer. Same rifle, same ammo, but a new White Oak Armament barrel... Amazing !! Consistently 3/4 - 1/2 MOA !!

what barrel spec did you ultimately end up getting?

White Oak Armament 20" Mid-weight, Wylde (SKU 5WOA20). It's actually pretty heavy even though is called midweight. I think is one inch behind the gas block.

There would be other things to consider if you were getting 1-1.5 moa and wanted to improve it, but at 2+ moa I bet you've got a bad barrel. White Oak, Rainier Ultramatch, and Compass Lake are all good choices to consider IMO.

This ^^^^^^^^^^ BA barrels are hit or miss; some shoot groups, some shoot patterns & there will be none of them in any of my guns ever again.

The above mentioned are always sure things, along with Craddock's Rock Creek, Criterion or Bartlein &, Kreiger, Douglas, Criterion or Bartlein from Compass Lake.

But the build itself does matter, beyond just having a top shelf barrel.

BA seems to have taken a hit in quality, I'd put my money on you having a barrel issue.

Even a bad lot of IMI razor core should shoot MOA from a good barrel.

The WOA is an amazing barrel, 1/2 to 3/4 MOA w/ IMI.
The BA it's on its way back, hopefully they'll send me a shooter one. Hell, today I shot consistent 1.5-2 MOA groups w/ a factory Colt 6920 w/ an ACOG at 100 yds w/ crapy reloads.

if the barrel to barrel extension fit was loose, ie you didn't have to heat the extension and freeze the receiver, take that out and shim it to snug it up. Then take the barrel nut torque up to 65 - ish inch pounds. I had one that shot like you are describing and the torque increase helped considerably.
