Gunsmithing AR15 Barrel question

So I take the front sight post off of my AR to put a YHM Tube on, I put the gas block on and now I have the shint ring where the sight post was.. I'm concerned about rust, any suggestions on how I can cover that with something ?

Coat it with something or buy a gas block that covers it. I think LaRue makes one for that purpose. Something = cerekote, norrels, gunkote, etc..

Clean it and lube it and move on. We have had a couple of AR's where the naked spot beneath the FSB was left exposed and it was just ugly, but otherwise a non-issue.

A gas block will cover it, or what the hell, pay the shipping both ways and I'll reparkerized the end of the barrel for you.
