I think banning people from that place who are clearly adding to the discussion and a major part of the website culture has been part of ARFCOM since at least 2004, and before that, perhaps. There were many people who had thousands of posts, were major contributors to the more technical parts of the site, who ended up banned for one reason or another and never returned. Interestingly, the website still has the same overall feel and attitude even after all that bannage, so I'm not sure what they're accomplishing. But that BS has been part of that site for at least the last 17 years.
