Army M24 Build Thread

I'm looking for a Leopold Mark 3 Ultra, 10x40 fixed, Mildot, with a turret .308 168gn. Scope. Any ideas where I can track one down? Thanks for the advise in advance :)
I've seen a few on Gunbroker and Ebay over the last twelve months. Generally they've been in the $1100-$1500 price range for the fixed 10x. That's probably going to some of your broadest reaching groups of sellers online. Locally, if you've got any pawn shops around though you'll sometimes get lucky and see old stuff like this mounted to old rifles.

That is a great idea to check pawn shops. Thank you.

Those things SUCKED when new... horrible piece of kit. Didn't work as a day or night optic worth a crap.
In that era, only other issued NVD was the SIMRAD KN203 (PVS-9). KAC clip-ons were almost a decade later. The -10's get a lot of hate, but the design was radical af when compared to PVS-4/7 tech. This was when Tennebrex filters & laser interference filters LIF were cutting edge, top-secret sauce. Its MX10130 image tube was the original Gen3 white phosphor intensifier, which really hasnt been surpassed until thermal sights evolved. The KAC UNS were almost a step backwards.

We had KN200 and KN250's during that period which were far superior to the PVS-10.

The OSTI UNS most definitely was a huge leap forward in operation weapons mounted NVGs especially for sniper rifles. While the PVS-10 did exist it was untrustworthy and generally useless so much so that at the beginning of the GWOT US forces generally did not have NVGs for their sniper systems.

I designed the McCann mount and coupled it with the OSTI UNS (which I borrowed from Crane) and presented it during a Army SOF sniper symposium and down select when we were attempting to find some type of NVG for our sniper rifles in lieu of the failed INOD program. The result of that effort was that the McCann mount, the OSTI UNS and a Leupold MK4 M3 Variable 3.5-10 was selected to be procured and issued to all of the operational Army SOF elements.

The KAC aspect of this issue is another story and not a good one.
