My wife worked in education for 20+ years. Her #1 rule was never find yourself alone with a teenage male. But, it sounds like your wife has a case to file a lawsuit against the district for wrongful termination. (Yes, school districts can be successfully sued. Been there, done that.) Too bad you don't have some muscled-up high school football players in your family.

We were ready to sue the school but the attorney told us it was a waste of money that would likely leave us looking in worse shape than we were in. Probably should have gone on with it. It’s not too late I suppose…not sure the statute of limitations on such stuff.

Oh, and I see no reason to speak of violence toward anyone on a public forum. Private conversation anyone?

Maybe I should have led with this, but some of what I’m about to say I’m just learning tonight…it’s a really bizarre situation. The boy running his mouth in the first place put his tail between his legs when the cops showed up at his door after the shit show started. He isn’t the one who told school officials. He just told his buddies. He was falling all over himself to apologize to me over what he’s started. He was hazed mercilessly at school. So was the girl who did the actual accusing. While doing some more digging, it’s speculated that she had the hots for the boy, but he shut her down so she took a rumor that she knew wasn’t true to a whole nother level. Well, perhaps during all that hazing, she decided to try to turn the tables and I’m learning now that she became some sort of ring leader for these group chats that went around to MULTIPLE schools perpetuating the lies. So she’s first on the list to be subpoenaed for her phone and social media records.

TL;DR the boy just about pissed his pants and was real quick to change his story. Both he and my wife took some sort of deception detection test and both were deemed to be telling the whole truth. He’s not the one doing the stalker boyfriend shit. Hell he’s not even around here anymore. I don’t know where he is.

I’ll be honest with you…courts don’t like to punish juveniles even if there is a NC law for criminal defamation. Additionally, the juvenile doesn’t have any assets worth pursuing on the civil side because he’s adopted.

1) sue the family regardless of your ties being they are ultimately responsible caretakers for the juvenile.

2) have your attorney push for charges of defamation against the juvenile (if that’s a law in NC). You could even appear as being reasonable by supplemental punishment such as community service, public apology, etc in lieu of juvenile detention.

3) why live/work in a area where your wife is so easily dismissed by her employer and not even offered a job back after being cleared? Sounds like a bad position regardless.

I’d say those are your options.

For anyone else thinking that some or all of this doesn’t add up: we tried to sue the school. Lawyers told us basically to forget about that. We tried to go after the female who made the claims to the admins. That was a dead end because it was considered “good faith.” Now we are going to pursue the same female because 18 months later, she’s running my wife down despite having been exonerated.

We aren’t after money. It’s not about money. I only want said juveniles to be scared into stopping the nonsense. Like someone much earlier said, let the process be the punishment. I agree with your argument for alternative punishments. Public embarrassment is punishment enough for a teenager.

A teenager accused your wife. He was was given some kind of lie detector test and found to be a fraud. But people/kids still believe this and are harassing your wife. Kids are fucking cruel. If found out he would have been the center of all jokes forever and not a kid in the school wouldn't know that he lied.
So things are not adding up.
And the bullshit meter is pegged towards water leak/fiberglass

Hey man, I get it. My wife was silently dealing with all the drama trying to shoulder it herself. So yes, a lot of the information I’m giving is hot off the press. This is a combo of my wife telling me more and getting my feelers out into the neighborhood. I’ve been saying all along that I was pretty well oblivious to most of this until very recently. I’m not going to give up sensitive details. But hey, I agree, it doesn’t add up. I don’t have all the puzzle pieces. But think what you want…I thought you checked out of this thread a long time ago

Pick one of the harassers and have your attorney bring suit. Depose him. Something about answering questions under oath while being video taped is real sobering for most folks.

Its really hard to go after kids under 18 legally. If a parent is pushing the libel, that might be another story. You need to go after the school for wrongful termination of contract - they will say its unrelated but your team needs to insist it was (unless wife did something else to get fired). Even if the suit fails, you at least will be able to re-hash the exculpatory evidence publically. Make sure it makes local papers. Teachers union should have a legal fund.
