At least 12 Dead in Virginia Beach shooting

I got fired and instead of murdering a bunch of people where I worked, and setting a bunch of know nothing jabbering politicians talking out their asses, I got another job.
I’m so confused right now. I’m getting a lot of hate in the comments but I was just notified that all of you like me.
We can all have differing opinions from time to time, despite it being a forum we all enjoy.

The two party system is a system that never has a winner and only leads to a divide. Social media strengthens the power and outreach of everyone and everything. Social media is the real threat here. Keep the guns and ban the internet. That’s the platform I’m running for in 2020. Vote for me.

It doesn't take a genius to look at any socialist shithole country and see the future. England started in the 1920's, banning guns. first pistols and revolvers, then rifles and shotguns, then semi-automatic anything, then hunting anything, then target shooting anything, then varmint control anything. Then they banned deactivated guns, then they banned rubber replicas from movies and theatrical props, then they raided homes, castles and old mansions and banned swords, axes and spears. Then they banned replicas of medieval weapons and now they force theater companies to submit to regular checks of their props.

Aside from the 'Hide infighting, this is a massive tragedy on the human level. My personal condolences are offered to all who mourn, and all who are recovering from their wounds. I was surprised at how we managed to get to three pages on this without much, if any, of these sentiments.

The problem is that we have taken our own responsibilities and fobbed them off onto an entity we call government.
We didn't like being shat upon by royalty, so we unseated them. But in the interim, we may have demonstrated that neither they, nor we, could do a better job.
Nobody will do the right thing on their own because we have entrenched an excuse we call government to hold us to the right and the wrong by means of irresistible force.
Nobody wants to be the ogre, so we make all of us the ogre, collectively. Here, I'm not an ogre, you're not an ogre, lets' have the government be the ogre. Done and done. Right!

The ultimate outcome, so far, is political correctness, but that's about to be overtaken by the totalitarians.
The problem with CW2, CW3, whatever, is how do we get past this conundrum once the smoke clears?

Government exists because nobody wants to admit they're wrong, so they push it onto government, and let it be the wrongdoer. But we are wrong. We do the wrong things frequently and repeatedly. It's simply that this is a part of human nature.
We are, by nature, a schizophrenic species.

We have to be, but we don't have to let ourselves buy into the myth that we are unworthy of rights, and that a collective entity, that we call government, owns our rights and gets to pick and choose, vote and adjudicate those rights. The kings didn't get this either. Pretty soon, the way we're going, nobody will.
Collectively, we have nowhere near enough balls to admit our flaws, fix them ourselves, and stand up for what belongs to us, regardless of whether we like our belongings, and especially whether we think we or anybody else shouldn't have them.
I don't have a solution, but unless we get up off our collective ass and put government in its place, a subordinate place, we're sure and Hell never going to make any of this any better. We shy away because we can't propose perfection. Screw perfection, that's why the Commies thrive, they preach perfection, and perfection is hard to turn away from. A little taste lasts a long time, and folks will go a long way to get some more. Hell is closer than that. Perfection doesn't exist, and as long as humans are driving, never will. But where we're headed is worse, and we need better.

BTW, I have a Savage Scout Rifle (referring to you current browsing history...), but not the one you can get these days. Mine's a 7.62x39 10FCM Scout from back yonder.

I got fired and started my own business. Housed, clothed, and fed a household of four for about a decade before the Agent Orange made me unemployable, even by myself.
I do fine anyway. I still house and feed six people. They now can clothe, etc., themselves. Along the way, I became a certified Rifle and Pistol instructor, taught a whole bunch of kids how to shoot well and safely, and instituted the competitive shooting program for the Marine Corps League of New Jersey. Oh, and I did some posting here, too.
There's more, but that would be braggin'...
But back on topic; sometimes, ya gotta get up and do it yourself.

Public utilitys are mandated to make a profit regardless of how inefficient they are. They have no incentive to produce a quality product/service, the gov the same way. That is why to me Taxes have become nothing more that legalized theft by deception, under armed people who will jail you for 5 bucks, yet theft by pin from my wallet or a banker is allowed to go unchecked by the same people.

From the latest Ive heard locally, he had not been fired, he still had his entry pass to the building, thats how he got in. He had no priors and was on no radar anywhere. All his firearms had been purchased legally in the last two weeks to a month.
Unless some sort of manifesto turns up we may never know exactly why he went berserk.

Um...not even close. When governments operate public utilities that's when they get ferked up. When utilities are operated for rate payers, by private governmental commission, politics are taken out of the mix.
You are only partially correct, when a city council is in charge if the water sewer system, then things go haywire.
My field is absolutely held to a standard if quality. If I don't do my job properly, they can come put me in handcuffs. I personally know men who have been cuffed and incarcerated.
I work for rate payers, my salary isn't paid by tax payers.
City councils should NEVER be in charge of municipal water or wastewater systems. They pilfer the coffees and run on a shoestring, while siphoning off big money.
Utilities are not supposed to be run for profit, if there is profit, it should go back into CIP....but city councils....you get the idea.
I've worked for 2 private commissions and one city in 30+ years. The private commissions run proper. The city was a disaster.
Drugs are illegal and its a multi billion dollar business due to the market, they ban guns the market will still want them and I would imagine Mexican Cartels would offer firearms when that time came. I have seen some of the homemade guns that had been recovered from perpetually war torn areas of the world like the Dagestan region and Kashmir. A lot of innovative designs and made from all manner of hardware and electrical components. There were simple muzzleloaders ignited with match and touch-hole like medieval fire lances, crossbows made from leaf spring, Liberator-style single shot pistols with trigger mechanisms that can actually be set to feather weight tripping. Those most likely had secondary functions as booby traps and trap guns for securing entryways and residences. There were also pipe shotguns with rudimentary jingal-style wooden stocks that even had grenade launchers mounted to the bottom of their barrels. Black powder is used to fire standard infantry grenades in an arc trajectory just like mortar shells. Whoever was using those rigs better exhibit Grade-A teamwork so as to not get their asses blown up in mid-bombardment. One person to pull the pin and shove the thing down the tube and the other to place the match to the touch hole ASAP. Fuck that, you think your job sucks? LOL
And then, there were the vast assortments of fully automatic SMG's that fired from an open bolt with fixed firing pin and nail stud ejector systems. These seemed to be the most simple and easiest to manufacture out of the whole lot. They are literally just pipes of varying sizes with a mainspring inserted and ports cut out in strategic places. And indeed, a lot of those models could be broken down into several pieces of innocent looking tool and plumbing parts. I keep wondering when we will begin to search for a "Root Cause" of why people go to school and murder their classmates or go to work and murder their coworkers. It ain't the guns. I think about this too, but I always come to the same conclusion...our Gov doesn't give a f'ck about solving the problem, the real problem. They just want the guns.
Set government services up as a menu option and let people decide what they want to fund.

We give everyone a trophy just for trying, we coddle people so we don’t hurt their feeings and we’re encouraged to let a grown man into the same bathroom as our teenage daughter and accept it as the new norm.
Suicide has been around for a very long time. But taking those who upset you with you now will ensure everyone knows your name and will have you on national news within hours. I can’t remember the last time I turned on the news and it wasn’t focused on something negative. News channels live for this kind of stuff and as long as someone is willing to commit these acts the news media will be right with them
It also doesn’t help that when mental illness is recognized we simply just prescribe the latest pills to fix the problem. I’m sure all of us know of at least one person who deals with real issues and for the most part have no idea how to help that person. There’s only a select few with proper training to treat these issues and everyone else is told to just accept it.
That’s just my $ .02. when people start participating in their own lives rather than being glued to their phones etc then maybe we’ll take note of the problems around us and figure it out. For now we just hand out trophy’s to silence those who bother us and crawl back in our bubbles
