As of July 1st, paperwork will no longer be assigned to examiner by last name of the transferor. It will be by transferor address. Not sure if this will speed things up or slow them down. The idea, from what I understand, is to get examiner experience with other states.

Nicole Dudash - IL,IN,OH,PA
Chris Farris - AK,CT,MA,ME,MI,NH,RI,VT
Ann Feltner - AZ,CA,NM,NV
Jason Frushour - CO,MT,ND,SD,UT,WI,WY
Sara Jones - LA,TX
Albert Lamberger - AL,FL,TN
Dana Pickles - DE,KY,MD,NC,NJ,NY,VA,WV
Suzanne Santamaria - GA,SC
William Shipman - AR,HI,IA,KS,MN,MO,MS,NE,OK
Sandra Snook - ID,OR,WA

I guess that means they are to gain "expertise" in handling forms from their group of states, not really gain experience.

One would think you could get better "experience" handling forms from EVERYWHERE.

As you said though, lets just hope it doesn't make things worse.

Re: ATF to reassign examiners

I would almost guarantee you it will slow things down at least for a while until they get the kinks worked out of the new "system" and get fully transitioned over. I say this because there will either have to be carry-over while each examiner works/finishes out the paperwork they currently have on their plates, OR (worse), the current paperwork gets reshuffled into the hands of the corresponding examiner by state on 07/01/11 and there is mass hysteria, "redo" on work that has already been done, etc., etc.

Hopefully, in the long-run, it will serve to speed things up at least to some extent.

Re: ATF to reassign examiners

My experiences with anything relating to the federal gov't or any of its agencies are, anytime there is a re-organization, its chaos and confusion for a while.

And I JUST ordered a P30-1 today!

TX has the most suppressor sales out of any state.

3,621 silencers were sold in fiscal 2010, ahead of 2,053 in Florida and 1,153 in Georgia

They should just reassign for someone just for TX.

Whoever got Dana Pickles is lucky. He is fast as hell.

I am glad to hear that. I was about to ask about him as I have not had the pleasure (yet) of dealing with Dana and he's apparently going to be taking on WV under the new system. Thanks!

Awesome! Cause he has KY as well!

Since Shipman will be handling my SBR Form 1, tell me why he is a bum, please.

Snook and Frushour were good on my previous Form 4s.

He was our main examiner for the past year and he runs about 60 days on most transfers. Even with transfers that have errors he can usually turn it around within a week of the error being fixed. So sad to see him being reassigned.

Re: ATF to reassign examiners

If they (read Gov.) are changing the system, then it could only be for a more counter productive end resolute,

A big 1+ for Lamberger, he's called form his home, on Saturday! To work on papers.

Shipman did my Form 4, check cashed 3/8/2011 had stamp in hand 5/13/2011. I was satisfied with that!

He is well known on the large NFA forum's along with numerous other's as the "shredder". Was caught shredding to clear his work load. In typical gov fashion was not terminated given a wrist slap. Where I come from that would constitute a bum. Google up 'shipman shredder nfa'

Re: ATF to reassign examiners

I wonder how well this change will stick. I've had different examiners for transfers from the same dealer. The dealer doing my current transfer has had several different examiners over the last couple of years with no real rhyme or reason to it.

My current form 4 transfer is pending since May 20th with Pickles as the examiner. If Lamberger is as good as everyone says, I'll be more than happy to take him.

I'm planning on moving back home to Arkansas fairly soon and of course I'll have shitbrick (Shipman) then, if the reassignments hold true. Eff me.

Re: ATF to reassign examiners

i have a form 4 indiv. sbr pending with christina farris. today marks 92 days since forms sent. from what i've read, she's a 4-5 month wait.

happy to hear i wont have to wait on her anymore.

Re: ATF to reassign examiners

Nicole Dudash was my examiner for my first can, sorry to see her go. I've heard stories about shipman, hopefully they are the exceptions to the rule. NFA tracker has Shipman down as being reasonably fast according to their stats. I don't know how up to date it really is though.

Thanks for the news about Dana, that makes him handling the paperwork at least one of the few things that make me lucky for living in MD I guess..Now if only the can would get to my dealer here so I can get the paperwork going.

I would call to see what is up with your paperwork. I picked up a suppressor on may 8th that I did the paperwork no March the 8th.

Re: ATF to reassign examiners

Shipman was so slow, that I change the dealer I went through and he lost my buisness (which was a shame). I ended up with a dealer that all the form 4s were sent to Sara Jones, and she was on top of her game.

What dealer do you use. I used Delta Armory. Sent paper work in the first of march so it should be close to being done.

I was using Delta Armory, but that is how I got Shipman. I now useOne Shot down by Cincinatti. They are fair. I just found out that Vandalia Armory (in Vandailia) can now do transfers as well, and is musch closer. That said, Peabody in Dayton sucks.

Of course, they have to turn me into a liar. Got a call from my dealer this morning and said the paperwork is back and good to go. I'm a little upset over the wait time, but with the excitement of getting my first can, I'm sure I'll get over it.

I got 2 cans pending since April 8th

One with Ann Feltner, and another with Flanigan.

Will let ya know when they get approved.

Re: ATF to reassign examiners

Anyone got any intel on Chris Farris? It looks like that is the new examiner for my state (ME.)

FWIW, I had a real fast turn around time with Sara Jones last time.

Re: ATF to reassign examiners

Not good news for me (Shipman). I have paperwork for a .22 can in the pipeline since April. Hopefully it wont be much longer.
