I'm planning in getting an Ax338 real soon to replace my 110ba, so I was looking for some specific info.

Anyone that's using 300gr OTM bergers and retumbo with your ax, what is your load looking like?

I plan on doing my own OCW... So, no need for the 'do your own testing' disclaimers. However, if there's a general concensus on where a node lies, I can cut down on my OCW range...

    ax's come in 28"? I thought its 20" or 27".

I'm pretty sure I've used my google fu to look through every mention of an ax338 and retumbo on the internet(including SH) and have not found one person sharing their load with 300gr bergers.

Do the same search for just about any other 338 like the savage and you get dozens of answers.

What gives. Is this rifle that rare, or do the people that swing the payment on these just usually use factory??

It's a pretty new rifle and not exactly cheap, so you're not going to find as many people using the AI AX338, as you might find using your BA110.

As far as a particular pet load goes, just pick a low, but safe starting point for the Bergers and Retumbo and load up a few 10 round batches and then go out and shoot them.

Every barrel is different, so one guy giving you his pet load might not be right for your gun and you already have the powder and bullet picked out, so there's not a huge window for you to explore, the way I see it.

Also, down the road, you can try a couple of other powders and try a couple of other bullets and see what you see.
