My Christmas gift came early. All five years of Babylon 5. It was $20 a year at Wally World, I snapped up year 3 when I saw it was the last one left, and this W/E I grabbed the other 4 years as those sets also dwindled toward gonzies. When I got them home, Celia told me my Daughter Jen was gonna be pissed because she'd been planning to get them for me. So I called up Jen, thanked her for the present, and told her to talk to Mom. Actually, if she'd planned much longer, there wouldn't have been any to buy anyway.

I spent all this morning watching the first year, and I'm almost 1/4 of the way through that first year. Great series, I'd forgotten how good, and I'm really glad I managed to glom onto the entire set.

Re: Babylon 5

Great to see another B5 fan. I've had all 5 seasons for several years, & every winter I break them out, & watch 1 disk a night. I'm 3/4 through year 3 now. Even after watching the whole thing a hundred times, I still have questions about things. Great series.

Re: Babylon 5

No Space 1999; not sure I'd get it if it was available. It got pretty flaky at the end, which B5 never did.

Straczinski had a vision and a story to tell; so the complete series was on a mission and it shows.

Re: Babylon 5

I loved that show. I started watching it my freshmen year in HS and stayed with it till the end. I was originally a trekkie till that show. Then I got into the alterntive scifi shows like B5 and Stargate.

Re: Babylon 5

Top quality scifi. I will head to Wally World tonight to look for it. $20? Sounds too good to be true.

Another one to look for, though may be considered quirky (same couple did Space 1999) is UFO. I would love to see a modern re-do of that series.

Re: Babylon 5

The eternal optimist of the clueless mind -- just re-read your post and noticed $20 A YEAR. I'm not usually an optimist, but I read what I wanted to read on that one. Okay, $100 for the entire series. Still worth it.

Re: Babylon 5

Can't say. Wife took them and wrapped them up with the other Christmas presents, so I'll have to wait a few weeks to resume viewing them. Fair is fair.

Just doing the FULL re-run of UFO on TV in the UK.

If it sparks any interest I'll let you know if the DVD makes it onto the shelves here.

PS, I loved it!

That was Andromeda. The asian chick was super hot and was actually a cool show too.

Would like to hear about UFO on DVD/Blueray, thanks!

You should watch the series in this order: Season 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, then 5.

The show's creator wanted to show a war from beginning to aftermath. If you watch it as intended, it is a very impressive story.

Re: Babylon 5

Oh, dear me.

I'm in trouble now.

I grabbed up Terminator Salvation when it came out Tuesday and was flatly informed that if I bought another DVD before Christmas, I'd be grounded.

So I'm dropping hints now.

Battle of the Smithsonian, Battlestar-Caprica, Battlestar-The Plan, and District 9 are all out, or due out, by Christmas.

One may ask...

Re: Babylon 5

Babylon 5 has to be one of the best sci fi series ever made, i totally love it to pieces and was generally sad at the end of the final season.

Character build is so strong as are emotions and hatred towards key characters... such a vibrant show

Ayeguy, I saw the whole series when it first came out; just wanted to see the climactic battles again. If I had the money, I would get the whole series; but I have been out of work for a few months now and things are tighter than usual. regards, Dale.
